Hymer S700 guessing game tonight (1 Viewer)

There's a nice one for sale at Travelworld, the old early nineties model 2.9D, they usually go for between 10k and 15k/16k depending on condition. There's another one for sale on here at the minute.

This one in question it says ring for price so I did.

Have a quick guess what its going for.

Looks a decent old van.

just adding to the guessing here as I have no absolute knowledge, but I reckon even in the mid 90's that would still have been well over £50K new possibly pushing £100K

that is based on the absurd value mine would have cost someone in 2007 if they had paid full price, £135K

The price when this van was new would have been around 190,000 Deutschmarks, if anyone can convert that to uk sterling in 1995.

Wife said when she was living in Germany the Deutschmark was about 4 to the pound so the van would have cost about £45000 when this van was new.

Wow she said 4 to the pound was in the 80's when she lived there, I calculated thinking it would roughly be the same, obviously not.

It is a lot of money but if thats what you want it does look a cracker.

The other one for sale on here is a bit of a bargain but you are not comparing apples with apples IMO.

When I was in Germany in 1993 I'm sure the exchange rate was roughly 3marks to the pound, France was 10 francs to the pound and vaguely remember Dutch Gelders being around 13

If it was going in a museum undercover then maybe, but to use all year round and store outside, not good value or sense at all.

My S700 is still available. Ready to go. I was told they were about £90,000 new in 1992. With a reupholster at £1,500 in cloth or £1,800 in leather (Regal Furnishings quote) she would be ready for many more years of travel. A new step is available from O'Learys at under £400 to replace the bent but working one.

I read elsewhere of the Travelworld offering. It was not concourse as you would expect at that price.

That was a lot of money in 1995, well its a lot of money today.
