100% scam. Easy way to tell is to click on “sellers other items”....an interesting selection of other peoples goods on show

How does the scam work though, nobody will be fooled by that, what happens when you ask for a viewing?

Yep - that collection wouldn't disgrace a museum. And, as if it matters, he has no feedback as a Seller but he does have a very rich uncle.:D2

They will probably come up with excuses why you cannot view and why you need to send the money straight away, then they disappear

I have filed a report with eBay. As @milliethehymer says, checking sellers other items reveals identical descriptions for every listing.

They rely on people's greed at not wanting to miss out on a bargain.

Because these things seem so cheap and people are afraid of losing them if they don't act quickly, people forget their normal common sense precautions.

They will ask for a deposit to be paid by Paypal to hold it for you, the earliest viewing day will be in several days time, by which time they hope to have caught a number of punters.

Andrew

Hopefully the bidders on this item are scamming the scammer.

When it comes to scams we consider ourselves to be very careful but almost got caught once.

A few years ago an advertisement appeared in a well respected Club magazine. It showed a picture of a small valley in Southern Spain with a blurb saying that the Company involved was about to develop it as a new site.

Plots could be purchased for all-year round use at a cost of £xxxx. (I have forgotten the exact amount but it was expensive enough to be real but cheap enough to be tempting).

The advert stated that, in order to get planning approval, they had to prove it was a going concern. Interested persons were asked to register with a deposit of £250, refundable if planning approval was not obtained. We were sorely tempted as £250 didn’t seem too much to lose.

The advert appeared a few times then disappeared. The CLub admitted later that it had been a scam by the Company, no such plans existed.

I have always wondered how many £250 deposits they received.

Quite clever really! Plausible and not a massive investment so likely to lead to catching more people.
