I had recently replaced the foam insulation on the bonnet of our A - Class Hymer B644 2000 MY.

Sat in traffic in the heat, we suddenly noticed a burning smell. Panic set in and as soon as we could, I pulled over to check and found the foam to be fine. We just put it down to maybe someone burning tyres.

The other day whilst looking to see if I could fit A/C, I noticed it was the fog lamps that had melted. I must have knocked the switch.

It seems these Hella made lamps are a common failure on Hymer and London Cabs.

Not wanting the same thing to happen again. Does anyone know of an alternative replacement brand?

I like that Idea, I guess the problem may be finding decent ones that don't have a permanent drain on the battery when turned off@!.

I don't understand the "turned off" bit. Unless you have CANBUS which could be a problem with lower wattage.

You will not get an LED as good as the original but does that matter, aren't they just for show ?

Ours melted too, it's a common problem. I just taped them up and forgot about them, don't need them anyway.
