can anyone tell me is there a way of removing the caps of these fittings without destroying them it seems you have to take out the cover to access the screw inside.
I have tried strong tape and even tried glueing something to it failing that I will have to prize it out to get to the screws.

If you mean this type
IMG_2832.JPG
you put a screwdriver under the edge and they pop off.
There's a plastic washer under the screw with a lip that the caps clip onto.

I suspect he is talking about the “top hat” type with a flat (thin) round rim. First time I tried to prise off the whole thing and broke the rim part. Then tried to prise out the centre part using the point of a Stanley blade but still no joy. Gave up in the end.
Will be interested in a successful reply.
David.

Since my reply I see you have posted a picture. That’s the type I was referring to, however, on mine the centre piece protrudes up from the flat bit (rim). Your centre piece is pushed in more, which would make it even harder to remove.
David.
Ps. I notice you are in Spalding also! We are located near to Rugby Club.

@dalspa the only way I can see is to drill a small hole and put in a screw and pull it out giving access to the screw inside Holbeach in reply to location.

A long shot.......
The screw head may have a threaded hole and the cap screws into it.
Usually the cap is domed, chrome and secures mirrors to walls but the principle is the same.
Lay a rubber band over the cap, press down and turn anti clockwise.
Nowt to lose but a minute of your time.

I don’t think there is a screw beneath it from memory they are a plastic peg type that’s push fits as the spigot is sort of sprung all I know is they are very hard to get out.

Afraid they are a one shot device but easy to obtain from motor factor or eBay search "wheel arch rivits" or "Trim panel rivets".

That surprised me, if you can't get replacements easy (Hymer dealer should have then if you can afford it) you could fill and paint any you wrecked getting them out.

Could the centre be prised out with a small penknife blade.

Hi Steve and Denise,

I need four of these fasteners. Can I ask whether you ever found a supplier?

Thanks
Toady

On my Hymer, they have a 1mm hole drilled in side/edge of the inner flat top, I then poke a needle in and the inner disc pops off. I would like a couple of new ones in black but never managed to find any yet.

Yes. I bought a pack of ten in white for our shower exactly the same except the colour Chris @ Reliance got them for me but you could try Brownhills as they used to be good for Hymer stuff although rubbish for most other things đź‘Ť

Not cheap. I ordered a pack of ten and with delivery ÂŁ24. The dash looks finished mind which is what I wanted so worth the price.
