We’ve blown a bulb in the surround around the skylight but can’t work out how to remove it. Lowdhams have advised the bulb can’t be changed and it’s over £30 for a replacement unit. A second bulb on the surround has now blown so that means it’s going to cost us over £60 which seems extortionate. We can’t even see how to remove any of it so does anyone have any experience with this as any guidance appreciated. Do we need to remove the entire skylight surround?

What a silly design.
They are usually either push and turn,or have a spring clip that goes all the way round the fitting that you have to squeeze and remove.

The two notches in the rim look like they may be designed to get a grip to turn it.
It looks like a side pin LED rather than a bulb so surprising two have gone, they usually last for ages.

Think you just need to turn the chrome bezel anticlockwise through 90 degrees to release the glass and gain access to the push fit LED bulb.

The grippy matting used to line the bottom of draws is handy to grip the bezel.

We’ve tried turning it to no avail. It’s in secure storage not far from us so we’ll give it another try but Lowdhams say it is not possible. It just seems a bit extreme to have to replace the whole unit instead of just a bulb!

No. No! do not turn. There are two pins at the side - where the two soldered points are. You pull the bulb sideways to remove those pins from the socket side. As Landy Andy at #4 points out.
