Last year we bought the above which is our first motorhome. It has a large double pedestal table that rotates and goes up and down and a pull out single bed on one side. We believe it should be a 4 berth but can’t work out how? Any ideas?
Thanks in anticipation.

Two in the drop down....collapse the table...pull out the side seat...put in the filler made of the back rest and you’ve got a double...or even triple if you are into that...and you’ve got a 4 berth or even 5 berth....6 seat belts....sorted.

The 2015 B544 was sold as standard as having 3 berths and 4 travelling seats. It had a £330 optional extra for another 2 berths using retractable table legs and additional upholstery to turn the L shaped seating into a double bed. It looks like yours does not have that option.

Before we got our present B544 we had an 03 regd B544, it had a large pedestal table which we removed and then used a folding one which could be stored.
I then made a 12mm infill for the L shaped settee with a detachable leg at one corner and placed a supporting bead along the seat edges to complete the support. This gave us a fourth removable berth if needed.

Thank you everybody for these interesting replies. The dealer (not a Hymer dealer) sold it as 4 berth but could not show us how to arrange the extra bed for 2. It was not critical at the time but would be great for the grandchildren. We thought he got it wrong and its only a 3 berth. However last week at the NEC we spoke to Lowdhams rep who said if we have the telescopic table legs that rises and lowers its a 4 berth (and at a price if we brought it to them they would do a full handover demonstration). When we got back we tried again and still baffled as the table lowers but just (by about 50mm) overlaps ontop of the L shape bench support. Just seems so near to makings a double bed. Hence we thought it was better to ask the real people in the know!

Hello Rodders1234, I am examining upgrading my Motorhome and examining the same one you have. I am interested in finding out did you solve the above issue, i.e., increasing the number of berths from 3 to 4/5 using the telescopic table leg? As the Motorhome can carry four persons, it seems silly that it can only sleep three.

Hi cathalheavey, the answer is yes and no. We found some photos on the web of the same MH showing the lounge conversion, see photos below. We tried it and decided this bed would not be very comfortable and make it difficult to get out of the upper bed for any reason during the night so I don't think we I’ll bother. We found our telescopic table does not lie flush plus the seat and back cushions are varying thicknesses so not flat. However the MH is a fantastic living space for 6.5 mt MH and we love it so are pleased with our choice. For the few occasions we might have the 3 grandchildren we will have to find an alternative sleeping arrangment! Hope this helps?

Hello Rodders1234, thank you for your prompt reply. It is difficult to find an A class MH that does not have a fixed bed and that sleeps four persons. In our current MH Hymer 544 Camp our two kids used to sleep in the alcove bed, but now they are older and now sleep in the two beds shown in the attached, which allows the stairs to be used. For your camper this probably is not an option as the table seems to be too wide to allow this layout. Where did you find the two attached images you sent? Again, thanks for the information you sent.

Put the grandkids in a tent outside! Seriously we had a 2011 b544 and it was 3 berth. If anything like us having to visit the bathroom at least once in the night means you would step onto anybody sleeping on the 3rd bed so never tried it. Great motorhome though.

This was the layout in my old 2003 Reg B544 .
With the front drop down bed , and slideout single on the right of photo.
I removed the large fixed table and used a folding table to enable an extra bed on the left .
I put a 20mm bead along the short and long edges of the lh seat as a support for a 12mm ply base plus a detachable leg to support the end near the middle of the front seats.
I made metal pegs for the edge of the plywood to prevent it slipping from the support beads and the
The plywood base was stored under the opposite seat cushion when not in use.

Hi cathalheavey, we were determined to find the 4 berth layout so kept looking out for b544’s for sale described as 4 berth on autotrader. Then found this one showing the lounge bed layout. Not really practical but possible. Plan b is to use a seperate tent! Good luck, b544 is a great layout for 2 or 3 berth with a fantastic lounge and socialising space.

Just checking your photo the b544 bed is much lower and although we a ladder you can get up and down from the seat. This is what makes it difficult to get out of the upper bed while people are on a lower bed at full width bed.

Rodders1234 thank you for your replies. Still examining B544 2011 or newer, as I feel the fixed bed is a waste of living space, at the moment! This may change as I get older. You probably could make a single and double like the Camp 544, leaving space for the ladder but it would require changes to the table, cutting part of the table to allow it to lower down. It is a pity Hymer did not incorporate this in their design. Also examining B534, which is a good design, but not as good a layout I feel as the B544. Has anyone other ideas of an A class camper that can sleep 4 with only a drop down bed and is 6m or 6.5m long.
