Leave down to take weight off the tyres when not using the Motorhome?

Downsides?

Yes you can but if the legs are exposed to the weather give them a spray with silicone to protect, I don’t bother with ours but it never parked up for very long.

Martin

We had them on our Winnebago, we only used them for levelling and once to raise the rear ( together with hefty axle stands) to change the rear tyres.

Leave them down at home to level the van and extra security (debate able) if anyone is thinking of stealing the van. Spray legs with silicone spray occasionally.

Mine’s parked on the side of the drive on a bit of a slope.
Legs are down and one rear wheel is off the ground.
I do try to remember to give the legs a spray with silicone spray every now and again.

Like the idea but, met a chap at Nec. said a pipe leaked could not get Jacks up , don't too much about this system, but if that happens you can't move the vehicle , Supplying Company did not operate breakdown help, apparently said you will have to get a breakdown Company to help you,

Its hydraulics you can top it up and they should work.

Some also have a handpump in case of motor failure

If you have a big hydraulic leak and it cannot be repaired there and then, if the rams are down you are not going to get them up by topping up or pumping .( Big leak I mean squirts out as you are pumping) ,I know as I have seen hydraulic pipes fail, been damaged, it takes just a split second for a 2 or 3 stage 20 foot ram to collapse down

Why just the front?

Ian
my van has a front cross spring and it has just cost about £900 to fit a booster spring to lift it off the bumpstops

I just take the weight of the front coil springs, to stop them compacting slightly over time.
Over the years, I have replaced an awful lot more sagging leaf springs than coil overs !

You can lift the jacks manually using a battery drill to spin the pump motor.
With E&P hydraulics the drill bit is supplied with the rest of the kit.

Just don’t ask how I know it works. :Eeek:
