Hve i enough guts? Inverter (1 Viewer)

I HAVE A PURE 500 INVERTER. Travelling I normally connect one of our electric bike batteries to my inverter. A journey of over 180 MILES + But does not have enough guts to charge the battery ?.
Suggestions please.

Charge for longer.
How long does it take to recharge at home/on mains?

If you divide the amp hour rating of your battery by the amp rating of your charger, that is how long it will take you to fully charge your battery. However, all good lithium smart chargers dial back the charge at the end of the charge cycle, so they take a little longer than what they are rated for. So for a 10 Amp-hour battery it will take a 5-amp charger a little more than 2 hours to charge your pack. With a 1-amp charger it will take 10 hours. The larger the battery, the safer it is to charge at high amps. For example, charging at 5 amps is fast for a 10 Amp-hour battery, but…not so fast for a 20 Amp-hour battery. When you charge your battery fast, all the time it will greatly reduce your batteries life expectancy. Its recommended you stick to slow charging (4 hours or more)

Ohms law would measure the inverter output at about 2 amps btw

just to clarify, it's not ohms law.. which is the relationship between amps, volts and resistance

Electrical power is measured in watts = volts x amps

∴ watts/volts = amps

500/240 = 2.08 amps

@colyboy to answer your question , a 500watt inverter is more than adequate for the charger, measure the time it takes at home to fully charge and it will be the same time required when driving.

You are of course correct, however the above was for the sake of brevity and arrived at the same answer, the majority of equations and laws for analyzing circuits can be derived directly from Ohm’s Law. By knowing this simple law, you understand the concept that is the basis for the analysis of any electrical circuit! An ohms law calculator would be used to give the above calculation.

500 watts is more than enough for one battery most bike chargers are 1 to 1.6 amps at 230v. Our Bosch ones are rated at 1.6 amps max takes over 3 hours to charge a 400 watt battery. A lot of chargers are lower power so can take 4 to 6 hours to charge the battery.

Edit:
Have you checked the inverter hasn't triped out as if the charger has not been used for a while the switch mode supplies they use in they can draw a high start up current and trip out the inverter.

Find the battery spec in terms of Amp Hours ( Ah ) often 10Ah.
Find the charger spec for Output ( usually 2A ).

In this case 10 / 2 = 5 hours no matter what you plug the charger into.

e-bikes are tricky things to live with when off hook. Ideally you'd charge them when the sun shines, just when you want to be riding them.

Look at the Spec; for the Inverter. Some give the Input power, and others the output. As with all "converters" there will be losses. You may not be getting a 500W output.?
