Afternoon All, hopefully someone out there can help, I'm trying to charge my Huawei phone from my 12v battery (I could charge my previous apple phone with no problems), however it looks like the battery in the phone is being drained although it says its charging, the same thing with my Surface Pro Tablet. I have the MH switched to Aux as it should be, am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance o_O

Have you tried with the phone switched off?

Yes, it looked like it was charging, but the percentage of charge went down and the tablet didn't register that it was charging at all

Try a different lead. The sat nav sometimes discharges with cheap leads.

Sounds like your charger isn't working and a possible short circuit in the charger is draining your battery.

Don't have another lead, so will wait till I get home. Thanks anyway.

Is the charger and lead for an apple phone?

Has the Huawei phone charged before using this lead?

What current rating is your charger?
Older chargers often don't have enough to power to charge modern phones.

Good point Lenny, but I wouldn't expect it to discharge it.
None of my old 500ma chargers every did, they just didn't have the umph to charge when it should have been a 2amp charger.

If the charger is under powered the voltage can get dragged down and then the phone is using more power than is going in.

The Op hasn't said what 12V they are plugged into, I always use high power for tablets and smartphones.

Have you tried with engine running?

but as above we find we need the high A output on USB type fittings to charge our phones, then they are also quite fussy about the lead, after market leads often let us down

Which Huawei phone?

My p20 Lite charges OK from various 240v plug-in power supplies, various 12v 'Cigarette Lighter' type USB adaptors with 2A type outlets however it does not charge successfully when connected to the USB feed to my original equipment VW Radio. I have the original Huawei to USB cable plus two that I bought off eBay, all work the same.

Having had a camera lead go faulty on me and finding that it is unique to the camera I purchased spare leads for the phone as soon as I had it. Once bitten, twice shy!

It's not an apple lead They don't fit, and this is the first time charging with 12v, charges OK on hook up, battery getting veryow now so might not respond till I get home tomorrow but thanks all for your responses :D
