Hi. We have a new to us rescue whippet, 2 years old, and are a bit nervous about how she will settle when we leave her in the motorhome if we go out. At home we have set up Tilleycam and can view her at night when we are upstairs using home wifi. How can we set this up in the motorhome? What will we need? Any suggestions?

I did it with a cheap camera off ebay and a mifi device. Set the camera up to the mifi device. There is no need for a separate sim if the device is unlocked if you have 2 phones. When you go out put the sim or leave the phone with th hotspot on and you can then log in to check it. If you need links to what I bought let me know.

I did this at new year to keep an eye on my dog whilst in the bar.

I use a Samsung camera in the camper to keep an eye on our dog, but I would recommend the Amazon Blink cameras now

I use a mobile broadband unit in the camper, EE unlimited data
Hi is the EE signal good and truly unlimited and now slow down speed any time of the day sorry to interrupt your thread

To monitor our Moho interior, I use Neos Smartcams - connected to mifi when away, and home network when back at base. They used to be less than £20 each, but are now about £25. I have found them to be very reliable. (y)

Well it is the unit we use at home for all of our HD streaming, when we go away in the camper, the Huawei 4g router gets chucked in the bag along with our iPads and Kindles as we leave the house

It has worked fine round Spain France and even came on a ship with us up to Iceland just before Christmas.

We stream all of our TV through it nowadays, and we changed from Three to EE back in February as EE is much faster

We have a Reolink camera. You don’t need the internet it’s a 4g camera. Insert a one penny card into it (it’s EE) onlypay 1 p for each minute you view. You can use it anywhere else when not using the van

Wow. Thank you so much for all your prompt replies. :giggle: I don't understand this wifi technical stuff so forgive me for asking what are probably idiot questions and terminology.
I understand getting a mifi and sim to make a router(?) to work with the camera we already have. I don't understand how to see what the camera sees on my phone/ tablet when I am physically in a different place eg the bar. Do I connect via a web page? Is there a maximum physical distance it works over.?
If I set up a phone wifi hotspot to talk to the mifi to monitor the camera will it lose connection after a few minutes ie time out ?
I really need an idiots guide.

Whichever camera you have, there will usually(!) be an app that you can install on your ‘phone to enable you to log on to the camera...... It should walk you through the process of connecting to the mifi/camera.......but you may also need to come back to this forum for help too!

Thanks again. Will go back and look at the article.

Which mifi do you all recommend?

Recently swapped to a TP Link router and was so impressed with it I ordered a camera to watch the dog. Was only cheap and works great. More importantly, the app works great (y)

The camera is a Tapo Mini

Got an old mobile phone? Set it up using an app like Alfred Camera and set it to send. Dial in from another phone and see what the send camera sees.

By one penny card do you mean 1pmobile?

Thank you all for the suggestions. We are going away for the weekend in the motorhome (hurray) for the first time in 4 months so will try a couple of these out.

Anyone use a different mifi to the Huwawi 5577?

You may want to consider getting a turd alarm from amazon. At least you will know your dog is active when your not in the motorhome.

We use an app called clever dog. Works well, allows us to set up multiple rooms so we can press the app and see them.

The one I bought was called APEMAN and was from amazon but appear out of stock. For mifi I use the ee unit and unlocked it.

We only have one of these two boys left now, this picture was taken a few years ago, in our old van, when we first decided to play with remote access cameras.

Neither Shadow or Sabre would EVER be allowed on the furniture, nor to be fair did they ever even try to attempt to!

it seemed the moment the ‘cat’ was away, the mice did play!
Shadow spurned the settee for sitting on the bloody dashboard!

You’ll notice the direction they are staring in? That would have been our last known course, so obviously to the dogs, the direction we will return in

And just for the record, the second we were spotted, the buggers would quickly jump down, curl up on the floor, and look at us as if butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths.

Looks good. How does the power lead connect? Is it a plug or cigar socket? Thanks!
It’s a mains plug really easy to use the picture was taken in the pitch black, you can even listen to them or talk to them as it has a built in microphone.

It has PT operated by moving the pic on the phone / tablet screen.
