Since never. I've been a lightweight tent camper for the last 45 years.
A leak has shown itself in a skylight, more specifically it's the vent/skylight in the bathroom. The leak is caused by very poorly applied sealant, the sealant is Silkaflex 221. I'm in Spain and need to fix it with whatever I can find in a local hardware store, any thoughts?

Our washroom skylight leaked this winter, hubby (manic) went up on roof and just put more sealant around where it was leaking. It stopped it leaking, but only a temp measure.
This summer we have that one to take off, clean and refit as well as the roof extractor fan!

When you get back you need to remove the skylight completely and clean it all up , stick it back down with.

W4 Mastic Sealing Strip or similar.

Its non setting, if you use normal Sikaflex you will end up having to replace the whole thing.

Having had a couple of leaks on my 12 year old moho, I thought it was coming in from 2 skylights,, front and back. removed back one and managed to drop whilst cleaning out the old sealant,, managed to crack the "unbreakable polycarbonate" dome so ended up replacing. This did not stop the leak,, nor at the front after gouging out old sealant (hard??) and repacking with new flexible sealant. Ended up taking out front window and rear bedroom window, I could see where the old sealant had broken down and was passing water albeit very slight.
One thing I found was methylated spirits de-greases where new sealant requires to stick and "white spirit" melts the stuff when cleaning/wiping around edges.
After a few heavy rainfalls it is nice to see a dry window and not a one drip per minute drip. (y) :giggle:

You also need to make sure it is a leak, I’ve fell for that twice and no actual leak. Both times in heavy Rain. Depending on rain fall power and direction and van angle, if water is sitting on the roof it can still get in by bouncing up of the roof as the gap around the roof skylight isn’t actually sealed when closed.

You'll be able to find a suitable PU sealant from Leroy Merlin or Bauhaus. They are everywhere in Spain.
