How to check oil

I find that odd as if it should be half way up the marks surely they would make the stick marks in a different place 🤷‍♂️
I asked my garage for a longer dipstick once as the one I had wasn’t long enough to reach the oil…….

I know. :getmecoat:

If there is no dip stick, how do you know when you have put enough oil in to top up. To much oil in an engine can just as bad for the engine.
No idea on the Ducato as no message has come up yet but on my Volvo also without a dipstick the warning says ' low engine oil add 500ml' which I do and the light goes out.

This new engine has no dipstick because the dpf is in the way. Still need to drop the sub frame to get at the level sensor.

Phasing out dipsticks, craziest idea ever!

Electronics fail and if they do in this instance it could be engine failure. A dipstick never will!!

However so many owners nowadays don't know how to open the bonnet let alone how to check the oil level.
Many moons ago the wife was a nursery nurse NNEB. As part of thier course motor mechanics was an important module. They even had a practical on changing oil and a wheel. Driving was deemed an important part of private child care, today?

Bonnet, where’s the bonnet? 🙂

The new Ducato doesn’t have a dipstick. The level can be checked in the service section of the menu.

I agree why have a minimum and maximum when as stated the full position is in middle ?

Ain't it cold & hot oil level marks?
Either way, don't go over the top mark

I’m not expecting any favours from my darling wife for a wee while. This morning I asked her to check the oil on our car,she was taking ages so I went to help her, despite the fact she’s usually very good at such tasks. Only then did I remember it’s one of these modern leccie thingys . Ouch!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It may not have one
My last Mercedes didn't, just popped up a message if it needed any.
My Mercedes sprinter has one. Along with a computer measure that I don’t trust (I don’t trust anything Mercedes).

But as far as I can see, my Range Rover doesn’t have a dipstick, only the one driving. I’ve looked but can’t find it. I can only find 11 of the claimed 19 speakers though ! 🤣

Just hope it doesn't need a replacement, many hours of labour!

Take care if you over fill the oil as it can cause pollution off the catalyser that ten could need replacing.
I topped up with oil before a long trip to Europe in my car many years ago and a warning light came on indicating a fault not a problem as I had just sold the car before my trip and was waiting for delivery of the new car.
I mentioned the warning light to the garage when I collected the new car but I said it can't be serious as I had just travelled to the South of France and back with no problem.

I agree wholeheartedly.
