How to black out windows (1 Viewer)

Hi,
In our van conversion we have quite a few windows we need to black out and just wondering what are the best ways to do it. I've heard there is a spray on method, a stick on and companies who will do it for you.
Also, I wonder is the black out just like black out windows in a car or can they be done to also block out light for sleeping?
A bit clueless on this Im afraid.

I read somewhere recently that one method is to spray the glass on the inside with a satin black paint then stick insulation to it and then board over. It sounds like a reasonable way to do it as long as the windows are the non opening kind.

I would go along with the firs reply if you aren't going to look through them why have the penalty of the heat loss/gain it would be a bit like a blacked out conservatory a bit pointlell leaving it a glass.

Personally, if intent on doing, I would use the stick-on method as opposed to paint-on method, whether DIY or professional , As much easier/quicker to remive if you change mind

Yes window tint film would be best. 'Limo black' 95% light reduction legal from 'B' pllars back for UK vehicles.

window tint film will cut most of the light, but not all. vinyl vehicle wrap is cheap and in a choice of colours and will block all light

If you want privacy then window tint is not the solution as it only works when it is lighter outside than in.

ie: at night with your hab lights on it allows people on the outside to see in as if it was not there at all.
Just buy a few metres of 600mm wide 5 to 7 year calendered vinyl off ebay, very cheap and easy to apply with a little practise.

Thanks so much for that. I've had a look on ebay but to be honest, i'm not quite sure what I'm searching for. Would you be also to add a link etc. I wonder do you mean the sticky tape that is used in the photos above for the window signage? Sorry for the stupid question!

Yes we used the same vinyl for the windows as we used for the body. There are lots of different types used for specific applications but the general most used would be the 5 to 7 year life as stated

It is simple here. Tinted windows reduce the sun effect & help keep the temperature lower especially when travelling in summer sun.
