DFDS cannot be beaten on price if sailing Calais or Dunkirk as long as you book well in advance, are prepared to sail at an inconvenient time, and preferably midweek. I no longer check any of the others, even with the offers they keep sending me they cannot come anywhere near DFDS prices with a 7 metre van and trailer.
That used to be the case but I just booked with P&O, single crossing 2 adults...£47 !!! D.F.D.S a good deal more expensive !!

Sorry but I came out on 20 June with a 7.6 metre van, Dover/Calais DFDS at £44. I dont know what size van you have but I know even with a P&O offer it would have been more than £44.

I think you will find DFDS recently put their prices up, when did you book?

Mid May I think. I did have problem as I was going out one way at one length and coming back a different length, there website did not cater for this so just booked the one way.

Does anyone know how much Dignitas charges for you to "cross" and do you get a discount if you book early?

JJ
It's half price, as they don't do returns ;)

We booked one way from Dover to Calais 4/05/14 DFDS with the Caravan Club a a week before departure for £33.70 and just moments
ago we booked our return trip from Calais on 8/07/14 also with the Caravan club with P&O for £47.70 . The first crossing was booked about 1 week prior to sailing and the return trip 3 days prior to sailing . Both crossings departing around 10 am for two adults in a 7.5 m motorhome . This time DFDS was more expensive at £62.00 so P&O was chosen . We never book return since when we feel that when we have done all we want to do we want to go home and have found that as long as we book at least 3 days prior there is very little difference in price . Also we don't do very early or very late just for the sake of saving a few quid . So far this has worked just fine for us .

Living close to Newhaven, we find the 4 hr crossing to Dieppe suits us as we save some fuel going to Dover and also Dieppe gets us closer to where we want to go. 'Swings & Roundabouts' come to mind.

We have booked Newcastle to Amsterdam and return from Esbjerg its around £650 but have used £220 in tesco vouchers, using this ferry as we are heading to Sweden Norway and Denmark. We will need to get two ferries while there at a rough cost of €240 so our most expensive holiday in the MH but you only live once.
