I’m a newbie
Since when did a pitch with electric cost £90 a night. Granted it’s over the start of the late May bank holiday and I get the rule of supply and demand but I could have rented a six birth static on the same site for £120. Is this now the norm?

It's a joke and places trying to charge that much will never see me on a pitch at even half of that price

We were in the company of a couple who said they were from Sheffield. (I've applied to have their Tyke status removed) who said, with a straight face, that they happily pay £70 a night to stay in St. Ives.
They compounded the felony by adding that one year, they stayed 'up the hill' on a site @£35 a night but the walk back at the end of the day was too much.
Other than the fact that I wouldn't pay £35, hell, they could have caught a taxi for a fiver.

Name and shame

Sounds like one of those Parkdean style ‘resorts’. You have to pay extra for cold swimming pools, junk food, barking dogs, ‘entertainment’, and rampant kids on electric scooters & cycles. Over the next few weeks here in Cornwall they’ll be no shortage of takers!

I've stayed on sites with just rampant kids and barking dogs as "entertainment" for £20 so it must be the cold swimming pools and junk food that the extra £70 pays for.

I forgot to add.
The above conversation took place on a 45day cruise.
That cruise cost £65 a night each but, for that you got an en suite room, Three+++ fabulous meals, 'Proper' entertainment, less than pub priced drink and a chance to visit places 'The Don' doesn't want you to visit.

Jesus, we paid less for a hotel room in Southampton on a Friday sodding night last month than that.

Our limit on pitches is about £30/ni on a bank holiday, but we tend to stick to places at £20-25 a night mostly (and less if we can manage it). Thankfully the CCC still has their Rallys at £10 per unit night often ditto the CCC sites if you go grass and no ehu in summer are often cheap cheap at £10-20 a night depending on the offer code). Wierdly the CCC with their discount offers which only work for 3 nights or more it's often cheaper to stay 3 nights that 2, so if needing 2, book 3.

25 quid a night anywhere is our limit, we don’t go over that and it’s not down to budget either..just don’t like being ripped off. Don’t need leccy most of the time, don’t want bars, entertainment and shower blocks, just want to rent a 10 x 8 pitch or whatever it maybe for a night.👍

I’d have to give up motorhoming if I stayed on sites in the uk…😳
Bah, it's not all as bad. Most of us won't pay the stupid pricing.

Locally near my house in suffolk (so useless to us) there is a aire for £5 a ni, a campsite with no shower block for £10 in a small village with many pubs, and an onsite coffee/breakfast place. No electricity offerred at either but who needs that?

I suspect a lot of this is becuase a lot of people not on this forum want EHU and totally take piss this time of year.

We're on a site on Spain, €16.5 a night, including EHU 10 amps and WiFi that's good enough to stream TV, water and drain on pitch, swimming pool, restaurant and shower blocks. It's next to the beach too.

I never slept for a chuffing fortnight when someone with an another Concorde recommended Concierge camping in Chichester and I went to book it.
It's Chi don't you know . . . .

Yes, outrageous, I agree. Thankfully we have the choice. There will still be money-to-burn people around who will pay it though.

Are you sure the £120 per night for the static is on the same dates - I.E. Bank holidays. I wold be surprised if that price isn't higher for those dates.

I heard that one was only £19 a night!

Strange ;)

We are paying quite a whack to take grandkids away, but they are now adults, and non members. Would cost a lot more to take them to a hotel or BnB. It's only for 4 nights and they are worth it. Not quite so much for the other 2 but they are still classed as children. Older ones wont be so bad next time as can go in lower season. Looked at THS but van wouldn't cope with the showers. It is costing a whack to go to Keswick soon, but we do find avoiding weekends can help at some places.
Looked at non club sites for the boys/men but could have a ferry to spain for their prices. We don't go to all singing places either.
