I have had my current MH for just over 11 mths. We have just had the mot and service done, and we have just done over 9000 miles this year. It had done 26000 miles when we bought it, it is a 2008 and I have a feeling when we sell its not going to be an extremely low milage mh.

So how many miles do you do per year?
2017 Bailey A2 50,000 miles when sold at 3 years old.

I was thinking one reason my UK insurance premium was so high is that Australians coming over to Europe do high mileage, but my first annual trip (8800km in 2019, so only annual so far) isn't as much as a lot of you. So why did I pay £1050? Got a 'bargain' for this year at £830!

Hi Bobnick
who do you rent from in Australia. We are doing the same in Jan, but just little tour from Melbourne to Adelaide, but plans to become grey nomads of the future.

During the last 2 years - thanks to lockdown - not as many miles as i would have liked. Over 6 years have only averaged 3000 miles per year. Would love to increase this figure but "things" just keep getting in the way:banghead:

Had a Fiat Doblo camper for a couple of years, now upgrading to something slightly bigger.
We bought our van in June 2019
2019 3128 miles (Average 447 miles / month)
2020 3673 miles (Average 306 miles / month)
2021 6127 miles (Average 511 miles / month)

Yes, I'm one of those boring people who keeps a van log (using a program called Evernote)!

We have rented in Australia 4 times. Everytime it's been with Let'sGo. We have found their vans to be later models, in good nick and the back up service has been spot on. Their prices are also very competitive, We have no complaints.
They have branches in most major citys.
Hope this helps.

Last three years around the 3K mark. Now that we are emerging(?) from Covid, I'm wondering whether the price of fuel will constrain it where Covid leaves off. Is there really a prize for looking through the windscreen at tarmac?

We’ve done 6,000 in the last 12 months since we bought ours. Covid limited us last year so planning on lots more for this one!!
No point in having a motorhome if it’s not used!!

Have been doing 5000-6000, now virtually retired at last, it will be about 8000 maybe more. Not much point in buying a Motorhome if you don't use it so stop worrying about it and enjoy it.
A commercial van with the same chassis will be doing anything from 20,000 to 50,000 miles a year.
I’m retired and last year touring anti clockwise from Devon to Scotland, Wales NI and part Southern Ireland I managed approximately 4500 miles but I’m not counting, it’s there to be enjoyed. Tuesday Plymouth to Roscoff and a years ( approx) leisurely drive through Southern Europe with Turkeiye as my destination. Return trip via the Balkans . As Lenny says; these engines are designed to work and be reliable even with high mileage.

With our insurance policy you have to specify the amount of miles you are going to cover in the year.
We have specified 8,000 miles for the last 10 years and that about covers it.

I sold my 7 years old I H with 46000 mls with no problem but I must admit I do get a bit paranoid (for no reason) over mileage I average (or used to do) app 8000 per year my present van 7 months old has 2668 mls

We have only averaged 3,600 mile p.a. over 11 years, but that is partly for family reasons.

We have cheated a bit because one year we did P'mouth- Santander and last year Ancona-Patras, Piraeus-Patmos, Patmos-Piraeus and Patras-Venice, so the Captains took a weight off our shoulders for many nautical miles.

I do not fret about putting miles/km on the clock as the way I see it if I keep this N&B Arto for another 5-10 years and throw it away we would have had our £26.5K out of it over then 16-21 years.

Anyone want to put £2K now for first refusal on the 'throw away' option?

When 'family' restrictions finish we will hope to do a lot more. We have not touched Italy except transit, much of Spain nor Portugal yet. Done lots of France.

My (new to me) van is 20 years old and has done less than 40,000 miles o_O I'm hoping to work on that, but not going to be doing massive mileage as we are restricted to school holidays and weekends.

Thanks Bobnick. I had already booked for next Feb with Let's Go so I am pleased you endoursed them. 20 years ago we went with Mauri wihich was pretty basic but we enjoyed it at the time, but our expepctations have moved on a bit since then.

We have owned ours for just a year, not the greatest for travel. Been for mot today, passed with a smile. We have done just 2k miles since the last one. But we have been away for 3 weekends and a total of 6 weeks through the year. Now finishing work so hoping to be doing more. starting east coast, then Ireland for wedding and tour, then who knows where. Food festival sounds good.

I usually do about 10,000 a year, I don’t even think about trying to keep it low, I use it for what it was intended, to travel, I wouldn’t want to buy a van that’s spent most of its time parked upon someone’s drive, they always seem to be the ones that always have problems and this and that failing, these are commercial vehicles that were designed for hard work, use it and get your money’s worth out of it even if you sell it with very low mileage it won’t make that much difference to the price you get but at least you will have had a lot of pleasure out of it. Use it.... just my view..
