Thanks @vwalan
I've greased the mechanism that I can get to , but the majority is enclosed behind its own kind of plastic housing. I don't know if that's because it's the new face lift van. I was wondering if it would be strong enough to jack up the van , now I've converted it. But it's supposed to be suitable for a 3.5 ton van. I will have a go at jacking it up this weekend . Just in case we do get a flat , on the North Coast 500 trip which were on the count down to.
I might have to upgrade to a bottle jack. I think I'll also put a long wheel wrench in the tool box too.

Have a 3 ton trolley jack, a 5 ton bottle jack and a selection of 4 inch pieces of timber. you need a lot of lift height to raise the body enough to get the wheel off the ground after the suspension travel.
Also have an 18 inch 3/4" T bar and a quality socket. Strangely,I find that a 15/16 socket is a better fit on Fiat studs than a metric sized one.
