I need an EHU cable and I was wondering what length is recommended. I don't want to bother with a lot of unneeded cable.

One orange 25m, one blue (cold weather) 25m, and a 10m reverse polarity. I had a 10m cable anyway so couldn’t be bothered shortening it. When we started out we just had the one 25m cable but, when booking Carcassonne, the site info advises customers to bring a very long cable length. We needed it!

Big thanks everyone! I just ordered a 30m for a start and I'll see how it goes. I can always add another if necessary. Any recommendations on adapters? I will be traveling throughout the EU.

30m… that’ll be heavy, didn’t know they did a 30m, still, travelling Europe you still be able to plug in at home with it that longā€¦šŸ˜‰šŸ˜Ž

I bought a 50m reel of suitable 3-core from an electrical wholesalers and split it into two halves. Fitting the plugs/sockets is straightforward and the end products are much cheaper than buying ready made. We've never needed more than 50m but there have been times when 25m wasn't long enough. We also carry a plug-in device to check the polarity and a short length of cable to reverse the polarity.

Similar here. Bought a 50m roll of 2.5mm ā€˜Polar’ cable and split it into 25m, 10m & 5m with MK connectors and plugs from Screwfix. Have used the 10m & 5m ones a few times but not the 25m as yet. Oh, and the ā€˜extra’ 10m made another lead for the brother-in-law.

Like many, I've got a 10m & 25m. Plus extra "tails" (EU, reverse polarity, etc).
I think I might make a 15m - sometimes I find the 10m just too short and 25m is heavy and unwieldy to get out unless you're using most (all) of it!

1 x 25m, which is fine for nearly every site.

1 x 25m at the bottom of the locker, bought 2nd hand off ebay three years ago, never needed to use it, but I'd never leave it at home.

I have 3, 1 x 25m and a 25m cut by a third giving me a 8m and 16m so 50m total and depending how close to the post I am I can use 25m, 16m or 8m or a combination.

Just out of curiosity, did I read somewhere that you don’t need to worry about polarity with an EU manufactured Motorhome because it has circuit breakers on both Positive and Negative wires - which is not the case with UK manufactured vans which only have a breaker on the Positive?

I, too, have a polarity switching lead, tester, etc. I never actually used the polarity switching lead because on the occasions with reversed polarity that I encountered, these were all fed from EU EHU supplies using the ā€˜2 central pin and edge earth’ type connections. I simply turned the 2 pin plug through 180 degrees to give the correct polarity.

Have 2x25M and in 4 years of extensive touring around Europe I have never used the second cable…..but we do have 400ah of lithium batteries so off grid is not a problem for us.
