With our last mh we had a big garage but having two heavy, full size e-bikes we carried them on an electric-lift rear bike carrier.

We changed mh and sold the bikes which had got too heavy for my wife to handle. We now have two "lightweight" e-folders. Before I wade in and start modifying our new narrower garage to accept these just wondering what others do.

Something similar to this. Secured with heavy duty zip ties to eye bolts in the garage. 2 x heavy e-bikes held securely. 0EBC0E5B-36A3-46DD-B467-D577E8B0881E.jpeg

Being folders they are wider folded (50cm) garage is 80cm so can't do folded side by side. Although the back is wider so may get side by side, head to tail.

We have two Raleigh stow away and stand them in the small garage side by side unfolded except for the handlebars which do fold down, the pedals also fold up which helps.

Ducatikid I can do that. Just need to measure for height as the previous owner made a super job of fitting a shelf dividing the height into two. I'm trying to avoid putting them folded but in-line as this would use most of the garage.

I have a few old but light silver screens in their bags and use these to wedge the bikes. Don’t even have to tie them, as they don’t move.

We do same for full size e bikes. Could easily use a twin or better still triple bike frame as above to hold the bikes in place, with a small ramp to wheel the bikes up. Easier than trying to manoeuvre or lift a folded e bike.

I have a folding motorbike ramp. A bit heavy and over engineered for the task but makes loading a lot easier.

we stored 2 elec bikes in the garage of our previous MH using a Thule bike rack. althought 1 of the bikes was/is a folding type, apart from dropping the handle bars, we didn't actually fold it. travelled in excess of 10000miles without any issues. I still have the Thule bike rack for sale if you're interested its your for £30. plus postage.

We've got 2 x AS folders and thus compacted, they fit longitudinally in the middle of the garage in our Aviano between stacking plastic crates on the n/s and 2 folding chairs that stand on the rear wall.
I will add that Mrs Emmit's bike comes away with us for a holiday. It doesn't get much use despite my cajoling.
Oh! and another thing. Someone once said to me that a bikes use with a van is in inverse proportion to the ease with which it can be removed from wherever its position happens to be.
The harder it is to get to, the less it will be used.

We've not got a garage, just side lockers in our 6m a-class. We carry a pair of Bromptons. Mine is a standard, hers is electric.

We also squeezed them under the bed in our previous 5.4m PVC.

Bromptons are expensive, but they ride well (when you get used to the sensitive steering), they are very robust and they fold up smaller than pretty much anything.

What would it take to fit a tow bar ?

if you can you then simply attach a towball mounted bike rack.
They are low enough to lift even a heavy e-bike onto
Had thought of this as a last resort but thinking garage first.

Another option is to get Brompton folding bikes (electric or manual)
Not cheap, but superb engineering, and fold very small
If I'd been going manual I'd definitely have got Brompton but there are too many compromises on their electric version.

Our first mh, a Hymer from Brownhills, we asked them to fit a bike rack. When it came time for the fitter to show us how to use the mh he asked whey we had a bike rack fitted when the mh had an integrated pull out motorcycle rack and ramp. So much for salesmen knowing their products.

Two votes for not folding but dropping the handlebars.

we also use these but I cut them down so I could fit them closer together. The bikes are fitted into then alternately ie front wheel for one then back wheel for the next, just be careful with rear derailleurs and avoid that they don’t rub on the metal frame, i added some pipe lagging on my rack

Wise words. I know. When I had the Fiamma cover on the bike rack it was such a faff that the bikes rarely came off. When we left the cover at home the bikes got used regularly. Same with caravan awnings, they deter you from moving on, just stopped using them altogether.

This is a great piece of kit and we find it so much easier to load and unload the bikes (heavy e-bikes). We also have removable peddles and folding handlebars stems:

They are pricey but excellent and really work well (great when leaving bikes as well because they cannot be ridden plus with peddles removed they are quite safe). We tried several cheaper stem devices and they were all complete and utter rubbish and we're all sent back!

And quite likely to damage the wheels !

Wheels seem ok in these racks, but just be careful with rear derailleurs. As I mentioned earlier though I do put pipe lagging on mi e for my “good” bikes

I'd like to buy your bike rack - if it is for sale? Great idea - will use it in my MH garage!

This is a great idea - I'd be interested in buying your bike rack (I am not sure if my last reply was sent - so trying again just to be sure :)). Just need to know the approx. postage to Christchurch UK.
