How do you sterilise your waste water tank before laying up? (1 Viewer)

I sterilise the fresh water tank and after its sat there for a while I run the sterilising water through the taps and it ends up in the grey tank, where it sits a whole longer. Take a drive to slosh it around, drain it from the grey tank, and two jobs done.

I have put lime cordial down pipes. Acitic acid

I think lime cordial has quite a bit of sugar in some brands I don't think coating the pipes with sugar would be a great idea. I just drain it and refill to the top with fresh tap water each season. I think theres probably enough chloride in it to avoid real nasties. That being said we don't drink from the tank unless boiled ( tea coffee etc).

Be careful - I've heard stories that he chlorine in Milton can ruin the boiler if left too long.

We always flush through afterwards with fresh water then drain down but thanks for the heads up.

totally agree, sadly zebedee been stripped cleaned, gone into storage we will be able to access the site, 20 mins walk away, so check regularly for pesky mice! Also take zebedee out for mini runs, to keep everything moving, running,sadly no more holidays, left at work ...so until next year..sleep overs suspended

Why sterilise? It's a waste tank. Just drain andeave open.
