I have the answer to the "dust or hoover first" question...

Don't do either.

It is hard work enough scraping off yesterday's congealed fat from your plate with a spoon to make way for your sausage, egg and bacon today to worry about dusting and hoovering.

Use the "Jack Duckworth" approach.
Do it wrong once, won't be asked again.
Although she costs me a fortune wearing out lawnmowers..... Must try and get one in again for the new lawn season.

Any polishing, dusting is done by swmbo, I do the hoovering and as I follow her round the house we hoover second. The hoovering is considered an unskilled job which is why I'm allowed to do it.

I do all the blue jobs and swmbo keeps out of it. My attitude is that if she knows so much about how it should be done, she can do it herself.
