Hi everyone,

As the title says, how do you deal with the guilt when you order a new van & your current one is on the drive making you feel unfaithful!

Had our current van since March last year, been skiing to Italy in it, numerous weekends away & 2 week summer trip to France as well as a christmas market trip to Bruges-around 8000 miles & truly have the bug.

Current van has been ideal for the two of us but want a little more flexibility taking the family away.

But oh the guilt even washing it yesterday ! I suppose once your first van is swapped in you get used to it (and I've been divorced twice :)

It's a sad business parting with an old and faithful friend.............................but looking on the bright side, at least the MH won't be after you for half your assets like an ex-wife would !!

"Only half" you lucky devil!

I found it consoling to take some photos. I have a photo file entitled ā€œThat nice little motorhomeā€™s last rideā€. It includes photos of it all alone at the dealership when I part-exā€™d it !

I know; how sad is that? I suffered from separation anxiety for ages :D2

Hold fast to why it does not do what you want, now. While perfect before, it now can go and be loved by someone else for whom it will fulfil their desires.

Having had several hundred vehicles I rarely suffer from that

I enjoy them while I have them but I don't get emotionally attached

Actually I'm getting like that with humans these days too lol

This time yesterday I would have said that you shouldnā€™t be so sentimental. I had no regrets when we swapped our motorhome in April for a new one which suited our needs much better. Then this morning I traded in my faithful old Jaguar car for a new German model and I was sad to see the old girl go :crying1:

Now that I agree with. When I had to let my jag go. I shed a tear or two.

I had an old Morse style mk11 about 20 years ago I loved that and an xj5.3 coupe both great cars.

I've also had a x type which was a piece of crap and basically a Mondeo
And a 3.0 litre s type which wasn't much better

They don't make jags like they used to

I introduced my old apache 700 to my new 700.
They were great mates for a while :)

But some flash, sun tanned guy came over from Spain and finally tempted her away...

If you want the definitive definition of guilt, try asking Millie, THe Hymer.
HE was totally horrid to his van when he dumped her, almost still a virgin for her slightly younger sister. For some reason he fancied her better.
