How Do you Deactivate Rear Parking Sensors When Fitting Bike Rack?

Hi - asking for a friend (we love our rear sensors) who is planning on fitting a bike rack on the back of a Citroen Relay van who would like to know how to deactivate the rear sensors. Has anyone done this? Know it may be different on a Ducato but any info. would be appreciated.
 
I suspect the only way is to Physically disconnect the wiring?. I doubt that there is a means within the various control Menu`s.

If you use the towbar wiring specifically for the Relay you may find that it disconnects the rear sensors. It certainly did on one of my previous cars.

Are the sensors factory fit or aftermarket?
If aftermarket just put a swith in line with the 12v feed to them
If factory fit they could be tied into the CANBUS so may need a trip to the dealer to deactivate.
If factory fit his he sure there is not a switch for them there is on my car.
 
I had the same problem and got around it by tilting the sensors down a bit. I did this by wedging a short length of coax TV cable along the top of each sensor. The sensors on mine could be partially levered out with a flat bladed screwdriver, the bit of cable, about 1" long inserted, and the sensor released. I used coax cable because it was the right diameter and I had some black coloured stuff which matched the bumper.

I could take a photo tomorrow when the sun appears if needed. This trick isn't guaranteed to work but it's non-destructive ( except to your TV lead) so worth a try. :)
 
Thank you for all your replies so far (y) Was hoping it that there might be a hidden switch but as suggested a visit to their local Citroen garage or disconnecting the wiring is a last resort option. DBK if you can take a photo then that may help others reading this but looks like in this case the bike carrier would be too low for that to help - it's an interesting fit using the door hinges not the towbar:

Ah, not a chance my suggestion will work. We have a fiamma rack which is halfway up the door.

Earplugs would be cheaper! :)
 
For completeness, this is my solution, which works on a back box fitted to a Fiamma bike rack. The sensors look down just enough not to go beep as soon as you engage reverse - which they did before the mod.

And yes, the van needs a clean!

I fitted an after-market set of sensors with a distribution box which I fitted inside the garage. The distribution box has a socket for each sensor lead and I disconnect the inner two sensors. Yours may be a similar system so it might be worth tracing the wiring from the sensors.
