dont get me wrong,my missus is a gem of the highest quality..but the only time we are with each other 24/7 .is when we're on our travels. At home we have a great mixture of hallo darling and goodbye, for a couple of hours but it does take some getting used to being with her(listening to her)every waking moment for 3/4 weeks.when you're 22 this is all you want but what I'd like to know is how do you funsters deal with this now that the flame of passion has diminished .....slightly?

I feel your pain(y)
Its because motorhoming is a form of madness!
We drive miles to sit in a field in a claustrophobic tin box, with the wind rocking it, the rain drumming on the roof. No workspace to prep anything. No dishwasher, fetching water, carrying crap, trying to climb round each other! when we've got a perfectly good home, where you go to the toilet and never see it again!:D

I ask myself this question, everytime i empty the cassette:LOL:
You see , I agree with all your sentiments , apart from the 24/7 as we have that all the time, and yet there are people with 100 grand motorhomes , surly they could afford luxury holidays all the time , and yet they carry s..t about:doh::doh::doh:

We have settled into a routine of each having our own tasks and keeping out of each others way when doing them. We take it in turn to walk the dogs, giving each of us time alone. But most important we are both avid readers and are quite content to be together but silent.......

If one of you does end up killing the other, don't empty the red waste over the road - it's considered bad form.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Our friends who don't MH often ask is this .
" how on earth do you go on together in such a confined space ? A weekend would be enough. Good god , I love him /her but I could never do 3 weeks . We'd end up killing each other ! "
The fact when ever we have a free weekend , usually 2/3 a month we're off in Pug .
We rarely do rallies/funster meets too ( probably 3/4 a year tops ) so we really are with each other 24/7 .
But we like each other's company and we're on the same wave length, we enjoy doing the same things .

If you struggle, go away with a group of friends. Lots seem to do that . Maybe what you've met while on here , then you don't have to be with each other as much .

Hi.
"Slightly Re! Kindle it". Well you did ask.
Me?. I promised first wifes granny i would take care of her (First wife to be that is(y)) Minus a couple of years of me having walkabouts, whose fault...mine and N.S.? prior to marriage, . Grannies are special people,Ken my cousin and i spent a lot of our first nearly 7/8 years with a granny,it was magic.Wife and i get on fine while away in the m/ho,she gets to spend more time with me,as we eat out a lot,i don't have to prepare meals and wash up.iron.hoover,dust,only jobs away are. Make beds, fetch water, empty water and loo,drive,re-set TV and plump her cushions up....CUSHIONS! Your speed reading again!o_O
For a laugh. "Deradicalisation:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:" You could have spent 100yrs,trying to undo what that granny taught Ken and i,i rest my case.

Found it easier in the last van with me and you space, having said that we get on fine in the motorhome, each do our own thing. Both read, we enjoy walking something we dont do much of at home, He goes of on the bike or I go window shopping and we socialise with others when we can. What we found difficult was a trip where for the first 3 weeks we didn't meet any other English speakers.

I have highlighted where you are going wrong.

Just pretend to listen but carry on reading or thinking what you were before she rudely interrupted(y)

We have only really been to places where we are meeting up with others. Our first ever trip in "Ken" was to the FUNsters rally in Kelso, then we went to a bikers' meet on the West Coast, then a bikers' rally in Tomintoul, next it'll be a bikers' meet in Aviemore and then a Rimor Owner's rally in Derby on the way to a bikers' meet in France. The real test comes after that when we set off from Nantes on a road trip to our villa in Murcia. That'll be the first time we'll have spent days just the two of us (and the cats, of course). I'll try to make sure any resulting red waste is dumped in the appropriate place.

How do you get on with the cats in the motorhome?

We have one ( who is very old) but never really thought about taking her with us

Actually, very well. They moan for five minutes when we first get going, and then they remember we can't shut the bedroom door and they hop up onto the bed and go to sleep. Hubby has installed a d-i-y weldmesh grid just behind the driver/passenger seats so they can't get through to us when we're travelling - it's got a door and everything, woohoo!!

As you'll have read, we've been doing rallies and meets. We had one issue at our first rally, but that was down to our inexperience in the rally type situation with the cats. We had them both out on harnesses and leads when a dog came over to investigate. Now we simply have a chat with the nearest dog owners and let them know when we're going to take the cats for a walk. We've had nothing but assistance with the owners keeping their dogs close and on their leads for the short time the cats are out. They are off down to Kent right now with my husband for yet another bikers' weekend, while I'm at work, hmmmmm.

When I hear "Why don't you go out for a bike ride for a few hours" I know it's time to make myself scarce! Luckily I enjoy a good spin on my road bike and I come back to an immaculate, spic and span campervan - win, win!!
