Apart from the obvious answer “when you switch them on!”

I have two showers in my house. A power shower that uses and electric pump and a “gravity” shower that uses gravity.

neither seem appropriate for a MH?

They are pretty much the same as your house power shower. The pump pressurises the water and when you turn on the shower you get water. There are two types of switches, either a micro switch is in the shower tap or a normal house type tap and a pressure switch on the pump.

I was once told by a seasoned Motorhomer that when using the shower you have what is known as a “sailors shower”, whatever that is ????🤨🤔
I assume to conserve water, but you never know with these odd Motorhome folk🤣.

We have hot and cold taps that you adjust to regulate the temperature.
In order to save water you could turn both off, lather up after getting wet, then turn back on…….
BUT, that means again fiddling with taps to get temperature right.
Sooooooo, I fitted a hand operated trigger stop valve on the shower hose, just before the shower head, so that I set the temperature initially, press lever to start flow, get wet, take hand off lever to stop flow, lather up with a low foaming gel, using two hands, ( cheap gels are best, not your Moulton and Brown High Foam Exotic Luxury Java Leaf and Mexican Coco Bean stuff you got at Christmas) , then depress lever again and rinse off, either single handed, with the hose and shower head in its cradle, or holding the shower head in one hand and still depressing the lever, to quickly rinse all over.
But make sure no-one else runs a kitchen, or basin tap at the same time, as the flow the gets very reduced.
Works for me 😂👍

Ships routine

Get wet in the shower (turn water off)

Lather up (no water)

Rince and all done using the least amount of water possible

the basic part of the advice you NEED to remember is, there is a very limited amount of water, and even less hot water as the water heater only heats a few litres at a time.

Don’t know about sailors shower but I do know that a diesel submariners shower is even simpler. Wait until you get back alongside.
Oooooh…………….
I bet that makes things a bit whiffy! 😷

You have two choices
1 buy a benimar with perspex semi circular shower door, try the shower out , squeeze in , turn on water, goes really cold , jesus, then really really hot, struggle with door , scream for help , break door slider , jump around naked swearing

Or
2. Use the site shower block .. lovely

With a 215L storage tank & 10L boiler we use as much water as we want , approx 20L each for a shower
lasts about 5 days without even trying 👍
