How Do I Translate A Document

I have a instruction booklet for a samy auto satellite dish but it's in German. I have scanned it to the computer. Now it's a pdf document, if I try and translate with google it just comes back with a blank page. Anyone know of any other ways. I've googled for a document translator online and tried to various programmes but to no avail. Surely there must be a Straightforward way.

You need to scan it with an optical character reading programme (OCR). This will create a text document you could then work with. There are free OCR programmes available but it isn't always a straightforward process especially if the text is in columns. You also need one ideally which understands German.

Might be easier Googling for an English instruction book first!

The only one I can find in English is for the newer model,
I don't seem to be able to copy & paste it.

If you can find the instructions on line you would maybe be able to copy and paste from there or even translate it straight off with google

Convert the PDF document to a Word document then you should be able to copy and paste the text into a translator

I think the trouble is because I scanned it to the computer, the google translate sees it as a photo or blank paper. I will try as Craig says,,to convert it to text or write it out manually.
