We're considering a long stay at one of the beach side sites in Tarifa. Not been before but it looks lovely.
How bad is the wind and does it spoil it for you? Genuine question - no need for windy jokes thanks x

They don't cover the hills down there with windmill/turbines for nothing! It is also a great place for kite surfing. I spent three nights on a "sheltered" campsite ( Camping Rio Jara) there in late March 2013. It was windy enough to shake the MH about a bit and it was hard work driving north from there with a strong gusting wind wanting to share the driving! Having said all that, it was no worse than some exposed sites in the UK. Lovely area but it is windy!

We've stayed there several times at the acsi site and loved it. You tend to get several windy days together and then several clear. It didn't spoil it for us.

It's a popular place for kite surfing because the wind is reliable but not excessive. We've been there a few times and never had any problems. You'll appreciate a breeze when it's hot. :)

Ok cheers
We’ve decided to head straight there avoiding cities and built up places if possible.
Hubby fretting about Covid19 as he has weak lungs and is as old as the hills ?

He could get a pneumonia vaccination, my wife and I have just had ours. Most people who die from Covid 19 die from pneumonia, might just help!

Go for it, lovely town. Can get windy, but that goes with the territory. There’s always a sheltered spot somewhere and all the kite surfers are fun to watch.

Keep an eye looking up when you are there. Birds will start to cross from Africa, migrating back to Europe in February. Storks should be numerous. The migration will continue into May.

I can recommend camping Rio Brava it’s not ACSI and a bit basic but clean and very friendly with a walkway straight out to the beach and closest site to town 5 mins, we were there three weeks ago and last year for six weeks ??

Thanks everyone really helpful. We’ll be heading here as soon as I can find a gas bottle. A friend recommended the Eco site. Anyone rate that?
