I've been told the damp on all 3 walls of my 4 year Elddis 155 motorhome was caused by the water heater situated by the rear wall leaking.Water then entered an aluminium channel then flowed along the nearside wall and along the bottom of the rear wall then onto the offside wall right to the junction with the cab.All 3 walls show damp of 50% to 90%
A diagam showing Elddis Solid construction shows more like mortice and tenon joints of the wall and floor not an aluminium channel which the wall sits in.
Any comments urgently required as I am contemplating rejecting the motorhome after numerous problems 2015

50 to 90% is very wet. Our Elddis was 20 odd % round the o/s wheel arch and it's taking a hell of a lot of drying out, it's about 17% up the wall.

Perhaps that’s another reason why the water heater in our Accordo 125 is “underslung” between the chassis rails under the floor.

On Friday afternoons very quickly so they can get down the rub a dub dub

A friend of mine worked at Elldis's Consett site for almost 10 years and never had a good word say. They are under pressure to keep the production line moving quickly and things aren't always done properly. Allegedly!!

Very badly.

Do a YouTube search for Elddis SOLID several videos on there you can see just how bad there are.

It`s not Just Elldis (Sidlle, was the original makers name! BTW). ALL the UK caravan and motorhome manufacturers, operate a De-Facto "pay by results" system. There are variations in how it works. but for most it is creating an atmosphere of "push Push push" to keep the "line moving" regardless. Where faults are found. the rectification process (if it exists at all) is discounted from the "reward" system. Therefore NO ONE is incetivised to make sure the job is properly done. and the "crap" is "nodded through".

And there Ladies and Gent`s, is the issue with much of manufacturing, and to some extent why "robots" where introduced, especially in the car industry, to try and mitigate. (as well as the reduced labour costs).

EDIT:- BTW. any one remember when the first robots where introduced at Fiat?. The Joke was:- "Designed by computer, built by robots, driven by morons":D

Speaking as somebody who has spent over 20 years of their working life auditing companies from small / medium enterprise to large multi nationals to ISO Standards, I am interested to know how you can make the statement

"ALL the UK caravan and motorhome manufacturers, operate a De-Facto "pay by results" system".

Having done a bit of work with ISO standards I soon came to the conclusion if a company wants to build crap they can, it just has to documented and traceable crap. It the final product meets the quality laid down in the document it's fine.

I could alter it to Many? would that help?. I too had a long period Visiting Factories and plants, You soon get a feeling for those who don`t actually give a ******. Some of the bigger ones still operated as if they where filming "I`m alright Jack". But then I jacked it in the 90`s, so maybe thing have changed some. But the sceptic in me would doubt it, human nature does not change. At least the guys I worked with back in the 50`s and 60` where at Trained Properly.

Strangely, that was my experience too, We where dealing with different outcomes (Maintenance and Safety). But in many Plants the ethos was pretty much as you describe?.

I could alter it to Many?

As you say you need to have been employed to know that stuff. So not "All" let's not change it to "many" maybe change it to the number you've been recently employed at. :D . How many is that?

My opinion. Your opinion. I know what I know, and what people I have no reason whatsoever to disbelieve have reported. My experience of Human Kind in the world of production is different, But why should quite large numbers of people lie?.

I`ll tell you something, round here if the M-D of "one" farts. The smell is reported very quickly. It`s virtually incest, time was, not now, when they where poaching staff off each other regularly so the production techniques where well known and operatives followed the money.

So you have spies in ALL the UKs factories. You like to keep your hand in don't you '\

Totally agree, I put my company through the pre-accreditation process but never proceeded for that very reason. There are some shocking companies that have the full process in place but that doesn't mean they are good which in turn means it has no value.

When ICI brought in their Quality system, it was generally acknowledged that it was a system to produce something the same way every time, with no deviation. So if it was good quality it was always good quality, BUT, if it was crap then same applies.
