Boats Caravans & Motorhomes for 25 years
Just home from two nights at the CAMC Malvern site, and absolutely shattered. 5.30am this morning the adjacent caravan started packing up having stayed one night on a stopover. After running their Volvo diesel engine for ten minutes directly next to our bedroom they depart at 6.20am. This was on top of constant dog barking sometimes as late as midnight, why do dog owners think it is okay to allow constant barking, I watch as adults keep up conversations as their pets are giving others grief. Can we not all be sympathetic to others and try to respect neighbours that prefer to listen to birds singing.

On a site now and last night new arrivals had their dog barking in to the early hours....this in turn makes my dog growl from her bed..
This in turn wakes our youngest...
So annoying ...but so far it's nice and quiet ..🤞🏼

I honestly dont understand posts that state things such as this ie neighbours dogs barking til midnight etc, did you not do something about it at the time?

I didn't as they have two caravans and about 15 in the group...

Most people do not want conflict

I get that but there's always something to be done surely?

We hap to stop on a Comercial site for the last few nights as no where else to go on the way back home. I love dogs but the three vans who were together opposite us all had dogs two vans were fine but the third van had a yapping little dog on and on, but it wasnt really the dogs fault as they left it on a lead while they all sat outside on of the other vans?
then last night was party night for another group radio way to high, we were with friends, I said we need to buy an air rifle with night vision to shoot the radio but he had a much better idea with a military drone.
After the last few nights I now totally remember why were avoid big sites.

Should be something in place on site to call an out of hours warden to come and deal with it. As a warden on a busy family site one of us us on call throughout the night. Got called out last week around 12:30 to a family in their awning, just a friendly reminder that voices travel through thin material and be aware of others around them.
On most occasions a gentle approach to the noise makers will put an end to the problem.

But we still have had people this last week saying there's to many children riding around on bikes and general noise, it's bank holiday week in the school holidays so don't know what some people expect.

I can understand people not wanting to approach a noisy neighbor as you never know what response you'll get so best leave it to the site to deal with.

I have a dog, and PVC with a 'woosh bang door' does that make me a bad person😂
That’s it, let’s shoot him 😉

Theres nothing wrong with dogs, or PVC’s (I don’t have either) but people causing a disturbance on sites either late in the evening or early in the morning is bang out of order, but that’s people for you.

Two weeks ago we stopped on a site (rare for me) arrived late and needed to leave early the next morning so chose a spot as far away from others as possible and close to the exit.

Made ready to leave in the evening, next morning started the van and crept out, only once out did we pull over and put the kettle on.

Its common sense really, I need to run a compressor out doors today at home, I’d love to have started at 6am, but it’s just rude, so I’ll wait till 9am

People come and go at all times of day and night at the aire in Canterbury nobody seems to moan about that.

It think it depends on what sort of place you stop on. An Aire or other wild spot you sort of accept that people come and go but a lot of people who do stay on sites like the procedures put in place to try to avoide some of these issues.

As someone has already said it's about respect for others around you which unfortunately is in very short supply.

Someone arrived Friday with a tent and said they needed to be pitched away from others as they were light sleepers, did they really think that on a BH weekend they'd be able to find a quiet corner away from everyone.
Come tonight when 36 out of the 40 tents have packed up and gone and it'll be totally different.

Shawn.

We're in our second year of motorhoming, and have been on CAMC, CCC, CL, CS and commercial sites in the UK. So far we haven't encountered the problems that the OP mentions. Perhaps it's because of the locations we have visited and when we've visited? After a number of trips between April and June this year, we've done one trip in the motorhome since mid July and that was to an excellent, quiet CL in North Yorkshire. I'm sure that we would have had a less than happy experience by heading to large sites at Whitby or Scarborough in the peak of the school holidays.

Anyone can cause a disturbance with anything anywhere!
Unfortunately there are some that don’t realise just how noisy they are and invariably it’s caravans that are the noisiest!

To those of you who are light sleepers and need sites to be silent after 10pm. I suggest you get acclimatised to lively campsite life by spending 6 weeks of summer in a Spanish one frequented by Spanish families. I guarantee that with this experience, forever more, even the rowdiest CMC site will seem like a monastery.

As a family we loved it. You can lay in bed grumbling at 1:30am trying to drown out the 15 a side footy match (yappy dogs playing too) to a backdrop of beer, dancing and guitars or do as we always did, get up and join them :D

This is so true! The last time we were on a Spanish campsite during their summer, we had a family camping next to us with a massive TV outside and the footie on. They had a tent and had brought sofas etc., for comfortable seating. Most of their friends and family seemed to come and go during the day and evening.

Sounds like a typical night in Sutton-on-Sea then , eh Jim? ;)

I don’t hear too much at night……once I’ve taken-out my ‘aids, but SWMBO hears everything! Did you know that spiders make a noise when walking across the ‘van ceiling…..?!? Must be the boots they wear…….:giggle:

And it’s not any better in Spanish hotels: next door neighbours will converse at a volume which penetrates the walls until the early hours of the morning and absolutely nothing will stop them.

AND you are paying €100 per night!

Gordon

Have tried winter sun campsite and yes barking dogs is not our thing. If we do it again I think we would rent a villa or something for not much difference in money as far as I can see.

I wonder if they leave their diesel cars running for 10 mins next to your bedroom from 06:10

The first big Spanish site we ever stayed on looked quiet when we arrived. We were parked near a large food terrace that was empty, we decided to test it and the food was quick to arrive and very good. . The kids played, we drank more than enough wine, it was after 9 pm we paid the bill and headed toward our van, just as a large family was arriving, then another and another. By the time we had got the kids in bed and brushed our teeth, it was mad outside, we lay in bed and it was like trying to sleep in the middle of a massive carnival. We all got up and sat outside, before long the kids were off playing with Spanish kids and I remember things got quieter around 2 am and we all got back into bed around 3. This was a weeknight, it got twice as mad on the weekends. '\

"Join in". If you can good advice Jim
Can't wait to get back to the sights, sound and smell of Spain.
We stumbled on the festival of San Juan 23 June. Wondered what had hit us street food, booze, dancing, crazy fire works etc well into the night. Very raucous!
Once seen and got the vibe we have found it not to be missed apart from the last 2 years of staying at home.
For several years spent San Juan at Playa D'Aro great view of Palamos bay for fire works. Wonderful.

The Spanish have a different time frame to us. They are just getting started around 10pm, whereas us lot are thinking of turning in for the night. 😴

We heard an argument between a Spanish couple, they were really going at it in Spanish but she seemed to win with her finishing remark, “okay then, flip you”. English the universal language. 😂

I love the Spanish people, so warm and friendly.
