I say sold, we have had an offer we are likely to accept on Monday.

We are downsizing in the UK, currently in Stockport.

Our Current house has a very large driveway (access slightly restricted by a green eyed neighbour). But once past that, we have the Motorhome, caravan, 3 cars and my daily work van parked up.

I have a large home office and a Log cabin/Workshop in the garden. 4 Bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 receptions. We love the house, lived in it almost 30 years, in the area all my life.

We are wanting to downsize and move to a more quieter area. Also wanting to be free of our re-mortage and lower bills.

We would like to stay within 1 hour of Manchester, preferably on a train route. But for the right property, maybe a little further afield.

I have found many properties, a lot of which do not allow the parking of motorhomes, caravans. boats or trailers. Some deeds and covenants don't even allow the parking of commercial vehicles, or even working on cars on your own drive/garage.

We are at our house in Spain at the moment. We can't move or stay here whilst trying to find a new home in the UK. So I am back on Rightmove again today.

Our preferred local areas are Macclesfield., Poynton, Disley, Chelford, Goostrey, But with a Budget of £350k-£450k (£350K would be far better). We are not having much luck.

So, looking further afield into Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Any Suggestions welcome?

This would be ideal ! No Immediate Neighbours and rentable ! just a bot too far ...

Try The Fylde area direct trains to Manchester 40 mins driving to the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales at 50 mins and the seaside on your doorstep. The Old Police Station Weeton, Great pub just down the road ( The Eagle) and loads of parking on the front of the property ( Rightmove)

Wow that’s a good budget, I did the same in 1999, wanted a rural retreat, all the rural areas houses around Pontefract were mega money so moved further afield to Teesdale.
Bought this one for 37grand

That seems a good budget you should be able to find a beauty for that money.

you just saw my last comment on your house!

Have a look at Wybunbury Cheshire, its 4 miles Nantwich 5 miles Crewe train station and Manchester 40. I worked in Manchester and commuted here about 50-60 mins M6 A556 M56 M60. Or A34 depending which side of Stockport your on.
3 great pubs in a small village, The Swan, The Boars Head and if you like sport the Red Lion.

Couple of bungalows on at the moment for £260sh several people on that close have motor homes on their drives, it depends how much you want to downsize. A 4 bed detached with rear outlook goes for about £350k -£375k but normally go in a day

For example https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/127270559#/?channel=RES_BUY

I was under the impression that deeds can only be enforced by the developers and most are put in nowadays so when phase 2 of a project is marketed potential buyers wont have to drive past houses with vans satellite dishes etc already sold on phase one. The councils wont be interested in getting into expensive court cases with hundreds of households. Im sure someone more knowledgeable on here will clarify the issue.
I moved here 22 years ago as I could afford a lot more than in Manchester my parents even moved down once they visited the place and the only time I go back now is when passing it when travelling.

Good luck in your search im sure you are aware they say plenty of houses come on the market after Xmas.

Isn't Joy movan selling a house up that way

Cal54 would have all the details I recon.
interesting !

It's a good point that parking is an important issue for many motorhomers. Perhaps Jim could consider having a separate House for sale section under Classified. That's assuming there isn't one! I've never needed to check!

Whitchurch in Shropshire. It's on the cheshire border but I think has some reasonable prices for housing.
Or that area.
We are moving further north into Middlewich. We'll business storage is moving, we are constantly moving as we are nearly full time in the van.

Yes, as I said, we currently have lots of parking. We store our caravan down the Side of the house, where we could always store the motorhome too. However, its easier to have it out on the drive so we can take either out with ease.

I park my Car, Van and my Wife car and still have visitor space.

I was going to say take a look at Sale however for £450k you may get a small shed going by my mates property. Good luck.

Sale has been named one of the best places to live in England.

Beach hut at Whitstable went for £160k a couple of months back!

Restrictive covenants that prohibit parking caravans and motorhomes are a very complicated subject even for experienced lawyers. Every case can be different, and the wording used is not standardised. No definite one-size-fits-all advice is possible. If you ask about this before you sign, you tend to get unhelpfully vague advice of the "it all depends" kind, from today's typical conveyancer handling your purchase, who is often a paralegal, not a qualified solicitor. For the small fees involved in conveyancing, nobody qualified is going to do the detailed research needed and stick their neck out anyway.

You take a risk if you assume that only the original builder can enforce the covenant. There could easily be neighbours who have the legal right to do that. Whether a neighbour will do anything depends on how bloody-minded and persistent they are, and how much money they will spend. My neighbours are all nice and uncomplaining, even though our development has such a covenant, so I manage to keep my MH on the drive without any complaints or problems. Houses in our postcode get bought and sold. Not a problem; in reality the buyers aren't being put off and nobody's property value is being harmed.

People are paying silly prices in places like Sale. Often to get their children into selected schools.

Nice house next to us in Macclesfield but I wouldn't want you as a neighbour with a ,motorhome, caravan ,3 cars and a workvan.
Im selling one of my cars and the Caravan is being Sold.

We are also very good neighbours. Our immediate neighbours were like family to us. She died, aged 81, he's gone to live with his daughter in Canada aged 83.

North Wales?...The train from Flint/Shotton gets to Manchester in about 1 hr. And you will get a lot more house for your money than anywhere in Cheshire.
