Just about to leave our campsite in Sicily to catch the afternoon ferry from Catania to Naples. Its a "camping on board service" so it will be interesting to see how big our "pitch " is!
Its a 12 hour overnight ferry and gets in about 07;30, then we are heading for Rome!

Not sure if we will be able to use our BBQ on board  but it will be fun to ask!

Being from Malta you should be used to these temperatures..

but rather you than me.. far too hot for me .. been in southern Spain in July and August and it was unbearable.. so hot we left and headed for the French Alps.

It's lovely in the UK this past few weeks.. temperatures in the low to mid 20s.. and no rain .. just a gently breeze from the N sea. .. perfect.

"camping on board" well what can I say, parking is in the open on the top deck and in total there were about ten camper vans.
plenty of room but they insist that you park in lanes close to the next row. Unfortunately it is also right next to the engine funnels and the air exhaust from inside the ship, so very ,very, very NOISEY.
You can use the on-board facilities and eat in the restaurant and even sleep inside on the seats, we did a mix of the two.
12 hour overnight trip from Catania in Sicily to Naples in Italy and met some very friendly Italian campers who insisted we join them and spent the rest of the evening talking!
The road out from the docks in Naples was the worst road we have yet encountered! it is the main road leading to the Autostrada and its a cobbled road with the surface missing a lot of cobbles!
The Italian drivers seem to prefer using the tram line area in fenced off middles section of the road, chasing or being chased by the trams!
Now in a site called camping Castelfusano near Rome close to the beach but in lovely tree shaded area, two beers down and more to follow.

Naples to Rome in an RV and only 2 beers. RESPECT.

Though you might be shown a bit more respect than our first trip where we hired a Corsa. Fair game in that, even scooters pushed us off the road.

Two beers to start and they went down very quickly.
Travelled down a long road with traffic lights every klm, three lanes as you get to the lights but only two on the other side!
Makes for some interesting driving.
