I am sure most will have got this sorted already, but a reminder for anyone travelling to Europe from the 1st of Jan 2021
Don't forget to organise your international driving licence(s)* and you insurance green card

*If you are driving from Calais to Spain you will need two, the 1959 and 1968 versions

1959 version???? wow do you need a copy of the little red book driving licence to go with it?
Thanks John, good luck to all those wishing to get away over early new year, the current French Figures for Covid suggest maybe not, but lets hope that's not the case, and travel restrictions ease.
It will take a while, maybe well into 2021 to get the vaccines out to everyone, administered in order of risk, across the world, that is of course provided they are willing to have them.

If you think no travel until vaccines available to all 2021 is a right off then
According to NHS it will take more than a year from the date of release to get to just 50% of the population

Has it already been decided which countries you will have to have an IDP for after the end of the year?

It is hardly a new thing,, For instance, France you need the 1968 version as France never signed up to the 1949 treaty, and Spain who signed the original 49 version never signed up for the 68 version as they already had the 49 one signed and sealed

Are you sure? Is this definitely the case?
Yes, unless they suddenly change direction at the talks within the next couple of days

BTW, the 69 version lasts for three years, while the 49 one has to be renewed yearly
