Never come across that situation before in Uk or Europe ?Be careful if you go for 1 x 15m and 1x 10m as you'll need a waterproof joint if you require to go to 25m. In addition, a number of sites do not permit jointing. That's why we carry 25m and 10m cables.
Was the connection to the post enclosed in a waterproof box also? And was the connection into the MH permitted if it was exposed to the rain?I have. Guy on pitch next to us (UK) was told to either enclose his cable joint in a waterproof connector box or use a single piece cable. He was about 20m from bollard and was using two part cable.
However does an IP44 connection lying on the ground with the potential to become immersed in water meet the IP Standards? Obviously, the bollard and motorhome connections being raised off the ground wouldn't be subject to immersion. Was the connection to the post enclosed in a waterproof box also? Obviously the person complaining had no knowledge of the Ingress Protection (IP) Standards. All blue connectors are IP44, which means protected against water spray from all directions. In other words, rainproof. But not hose-proof or immersion-proof.
So, hang it on a hedge/tree, put it on a brick/upturned bucket to raise it off the ground. Even make a dedicated support out of a stick, to make a connector hanger-upper, to use a technical term. No reason to insist on a waterproof box. However does an IP44 connection lying on the ground with the potential to become immersed in water meet the IP Standards? Or get a waterproof connection box to make a proper job of it and significantly reduce the potential of a trip hazard and the potential for the connection to get knocked off a cobbled together solution. So, hang it on a hedge/tree, put it on a brick/upturned bucket to raise it off the ground. I’ll be at the NEC show on the 17th and will see if there are any bargains to be had there for a longer 25m one. My reason behind the blue cable is that it is more flexible when ? cold.
Same here, never in 40 odd years.BUSBY.Never come across that situation before in Uk or Europe ?
10 and 25m. Not good practice to join cables for extra length.
Some sites require the cable to be orange so you can see it easily.
Especially when they decide to cut the grass around your pitch.
never been told to use an Orange cable either?Same here, never in 40 odd years.BUSBY.
