Sorry for being a dweeb but is the aire at honfleur paid by card or cash/coins

Honfleur Aire is possibly the worst aire I've ever been on. Our neighbours had their brand new e-bikes removed from their rack in the night. It's crowded, busy, manic and I hated it.

Why not try the Free Aire at La Riviére Saint Sauveur

Free parking
Services 5€
20 pitches

It is sat under the Autoroute over the bridge but not too noisy unless you are a light sleeper, it's a short cycle ride into Honfleur past lots of restaurants that are a little cheaper than the centre but just as good

We have used the Aire at Honfleur on two occasions. Both times it was far from overcrowded but the visits were in November and February so that might explain it.

No problems experienced or heard about.

Stayed on Honfleur aire many times! It is what it is!We love Honfleur and its handy to be able to walk in and have a meal or what ever. You can pay cash or credit card. and have electric if there aren't too many there!
We agree it’s a scruffy overpriced carpark but it’s near one of the most original medieval French towns and we lovely the atmosphere and cafe culture always a stop off for us on route to Brittany or down south.?

We were at Honfleur during the “beast from the east” in Feb 2018, and it was bloody cold, but fairly quiet (the aire and the town). I imagine we would hate it there when it was busy.

stayed on the campsite very close to town, my brother stayed on the aire , horrible dusty car park , hundreds vans parked right next to each other.
it might be different in the winter ?

That was our experience!

It's no worse than a lot of other Aires it's all about location and compared to what cars pay in the car park next door its a bargain.

Problem with the campsite is if you arrive at 4pm and leave the next day at 3pm you get charged for 2 nights about €40 compared to10 or 12 on the Aire.

Bin there lots of times, it’s crowded and busy cos it’s a great little place, why put brand new ebikes on a bike rack? There’s scum everywhere, the worst aire? Goodness, I’ve been on hundreds worse!

Gosh, worse than crowded, busy, noisy, we go for peace and quiet.

Nothing to do with the Aire per say but more for being a numpty and leaving brand new ebikes openly on display on a bike rack, could happen anywhere:rolleyes:. We have been a few times and as many others say it is what it is, can be crowded and busy but its right in town, easy walk to the harbour and all the attractions there, keep away from the marina for the cheaper and better quality restaurants and bars.

I've got 2 aires marked up for honfleur

At least the shed lady won’t be there I think she only works in the summer!!
Would it be un-gentlemanly to ask what services she offers ?

BTW check the restaurant prices by the harbour before you sit down, much too pricey for me.
Just walk into the town and there are many good restaurants at about half the price of those on the harbour :clap2:

And which one would you recommend? ?

Ian
I haven't been to either. I note for future ref.
Have you checked reviews on park for night or camper contact?
I think time of year makes a difference with any aire.

Don't blame the victims. They've bikes and a bike rack, where should they put the bikes?

I have said for years. I should be legal to wire your property to about 100,000Amps at 1000V. As a deterrent? maybe?, If they can actually read?. As a cure and a way of cleaning the gene pool?. (y) (y) (y)

I’d been thinking this. We have a PVC with bike rack and just had bike loop fitted. I guess the reality is I would avoid anywhere where I’ve heard comments like this ... which is a shame as I’d love to visit Honfleur

I love this site , gives you such an insight to our society. The fact remains that we can only influence our /our property safety not guarantee it . My MH at home has got security bollards around it , a wheel clamp on it , a steering lock and is alarmed and tracked . Where it’s parked has security light and even my car videos when someone gets close .

but if the thief is determined enough they will get it . So we make our decisions and take our chances . To be honest, I guess, ultimately if you didn’t want a risk in a motorhome then you’d never buy one... at what cost ?

I just want to add to this . 45 years ago my mum and dad took 3 Young boys to Rhodesia . No smart phones , no mobile phones , a country at the start of melt down (a great shame) , we lived there for a few years , went to school etc .the country had major economic issues - esp for the black folk . But not once did we have an issue with the locals . Well not until my eldest brother approached national service age
