do you need to inform your home insurer if you are away for more than 30 days (NOT vehicle cover) and how does this affect premiums?

Varies from company to company, my John Lewis home policy covers up to sixty days but many have only a 30 day limit. Best read the policy small print.

All we normally do is inform our insurance company and they change it to 60 days at no extra charge. Just need to confirm that someone checks the house every now and again.

Both the CC and CCC offer up to 180days of cover. My CCC cover does not even ask for anyone to make periodic visits. I used to go to the USA for up to 6 months at a time the only thing we had (still have) is i-p cameras on which I could see the interior front and rear access and driveway with the R-V on it. Sends me a text if anything moves.

We're selling the house while we're here in France for a few months. Seems less complicated.
