I read somewhere that the busiest time to visit the Netherlands is in the spring. We are planning on going for the last week in May/first week in June. We are not planning on visiting the tulip areas due to crowds but are wondering how easy it will be to get into Aires and whether the whole place will be teeming or whether it will be relatively tranquil away from the cities.

Should we go or is there a better time of year?

We were in the Netherlands for all of May last year and had no problem getting on to any of the aires .. it obviously helps if you can arrive quite early on the very popular ones but you shouldn't have any trouble.... It's a lovely country but watch out for bikes!
