Hill descent control, who knew?

Knew I'd got it and what it's for.

Just don't recall if I've ever used it anger...

Used it a fair bit on my current trip. It's very effective on very steep gradients. Descended a very steep hill from Mount Nemrut under complete control and felt very safe. I think the speed has to be less than 25kmh for it to engage.

I'm just not sure how it works - does it apply the brakes (therefore are they just as likely to overheat) ?? Or does it work in some other mysterious way on the gearbox or something?

I'd like to know please anyone! The manual seems to indicate it applies the brakes and brake lights.

If I have it, I've no idea where it is.
The button on mine is 2 to the right of the hazard warning switch near the gearstick

I read the manual too but looking elsewhere its appears to use the abs on each wheel depending where the braking is most needed, it felt very safe and controlled. I will use it again when necessary.

I have used it on a modern Land Rover Discovery going down a hill I didn’t think it would go down.

The tutor told me it would be fine, I was amazed at how effective it was. This was a muddy, slippery, rocky slope at the limit of being able to drive a vehicle down.

It’s very clever.

wouldn't want it to fail though !

It works in the same way as ABS by applying the brakes to maintain a set speed HTSH
there is only the normal engine braking and you should be in low gear .
:)
