Highlands End - West Bay

Staying a couple of nights in the cold at Highlands End

- walked down to West Bay this morning where there had been a huge collapse to the cliff earlier today - fortunately no one on the beach at the time.

Fantastic place, we've personally spent a fair bit of time here.
15 mins walk into west bay , 30 mins into bridport .
This part of the Jurassic coast is very prone to erosion so the landscape is changing all the while .

Been on Funsters Rallies a couple of times. One of our favourite sites. We like West Bay for a few beers.

Great place Bridport, one of the best weekend markets I've been to. Everything from a fancy door knob to a sticky bun.

Love Highlands end in good weather. It can be tricky in bad weather though. All the palaentologists will be arriving after a good cliff fall.

It’s always unstable there. However doesn't stop people sitting directly under the cliff in the Summer.

Do Highlands End offer Fun Discounts?
I know the Wombles have worked hard over recent years to fill their pitches for Fun Rallies, it would be a nice gesture if they did, but I wont hold my breath.

Only once a year for our Meet https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...t-booking-open-now-with-discount-code.274670/ & not sure if next year we will even have that as, like most campsites, they have less wiggle room than before, trying not to increase prices too much but needing to cover the ever increasing costs.

Lovely place. Is there still a municipal site on the outskirts of West Bay? We stayed there when we hired our first moho to help persuade ourselves to sell the boat and take to the roads. My recollection is it was just a big field with a couple of hook-ups at one end and then just grass pitches for the rest of us.

Yes. Was there last year when we were in West Bay.

Campground - Dorset - Camp site - Britt Valley

Britt Valley Campground is bounded by the River Britt and the main road into West bay, the campground comprises two large fields and are just a couple of minutes walk from the beach, shops and harbour.

Easy walk into Bridport or the bus stops just outside.

Thats a shame its been withdrawn this year then ,i'm not overly surprised at that - no doubt theyre feeling the pinch like everyone these days .

Thanks for that. Seems bit more regimented than I remember from when we used it, but that was back in 2015 or thereabouts. Then we just drove in and parked and some time later someone came round and extracted £8.00 from us. Still, a great place to park up for West Bay and we'll be looking at booking in sometime this year maybe . . .

Think they only did it on BOB for off peak periods every now & again before the time we started having meets there as at that time they were sold out a lot of the main season. All the campsites I've contacted recently certainly do seem to be struggling with pricing.

Thats a possibility as we've always had the discount every time we've been but wouldnt normally choose to go peak seaon.
Pitch prices everywhere this year are gonna go up for sure . ...some have already gone ridiculous.

One of our regular sites was very apologetic, when we booked today, about their price increases. No problem; we are all in the same boat
