Nice one you 2, we are lurking on the lower western isles but might have evacuated back to the mainland before you get here :(

We sail back on the 13th from Loch Maddy North Uist, but might delay if the weather breaks and stays nice

Have a couple of sea glass pendants made by local woman who collects from Spittal beach.

Sorry to burst your bubble but They are not gems in your tray but bits of broken bottles that were dumped in the sea many years ago.

Neither was I . But the one we went In went down quite a bit then turned left , on a wide bend weirdly . We got out safely but I didn’t like it . Seeing the signs on our side . Running men and green exit doors , god knows where they went to . But there were non on the other side of the tunnel / road

We drove over to Druiridge Bay , this morning . It’s a place we used to come with the kids around 10 years ago . Ralph built a lot of substations up here for the open cast sites and used to stay in our caravan on local a campsite .
Back in the industrial day we were told this beach was black with all the coal dust . It’s beautiful now as you can see .

Spent a lovely afternoon at Findhorn valley thanks again for the tip @DavidG58 .
We went for a walk up the hillside before breakfast this morning . Then bumped into the river wardens . They told us that 1000’s of salmon and fish are stuck downstream . This river has never , in their knowledge been bone dry before . They’ve had such lovely hot weather up here over the past couple of months .
Thankfully the recent rainfall is gradually topping it up . So they can start letting the fish in shortly . The fish travel approx 80 miles especially to spawn here on this stretch they said and they have to patrol checking the river and looking for poachers . I bet we looked suspect in our cammo gear !
We saw literally 200 deer plus last night it was a Fantastic sight , plus lots of wild goats on the hillside too .
The deer came down at dusk and we couldn’t get a pic with the iPhone they were over the other side of the river eating the lush grass .
The midges were out this morning but only down by Pug and the trees . Once in the open they went . The ponchos and mozzie hats came in handy .
It’s a lovely sunny day 12deg ( went down to 6deg through the night ) and we’re on our way over to Fortrose Bay for a couple of nights . It’s on the Morray Firth . Hopefully we may see some dolphins !
Stopping off at Nairn town/beach on the way .

This is something we want to do i n the near future, so I will be watching this thread. Midges are my nemesis, preventing me from visiting in the summer months. When do they go? They think I’m breakie, lunch, dinner, tea, supper. They leave Hubble well and truly alone!

So pleased the deer came out, the sight is amazing (y)

We have walked up the track a few times both beyond the lodge and over the bridge, not climbed the way you did before.

We were early enough one year to see white mountain hares on the tops

Your pictures bring back many memories of my younger days. It was common to see the locals collecting coal off Seaham beach which was a result of the spoil from the pits being tipped into the sea.
The concrete blocks at Druridge were part of the sea defences to prevent tanks form landing on the beach - or so I was told as a youngster.

This is what a lot of the beaches looked like in the 60's

We’ve been really lucky in the past few years at this time .
We didn’t really need all the gear on as the midges were only by Pug as we were in front of trees near water I think . Once we got walking there weren’t any . We’re at Nairn now on the beach . There’s non around here .

We’ve seen dolphins !
We’re on Fortrose Bay campsite ( near Inverness ) for a couple of nights .
We never saw them last time we came but tonight wow !!
The pictures don’t do them justice as you couldn’t catch them on the iPhone properly . So we gave up and just watched while sipping prosecco in the last bit of sun .

If you had dared park in Jarrow (south side of Tyne) you could have walked through the foot tunnel under the Tyne,
I do remember my grandad bringing up coal from a beach called the Blast just south of Seaham many years ago when they lived in Easington.
It looks like you two have found some super places keep the pics coming,
Keep the nets on your heads we are still getting rid of the effects of bites over 2 months later.
