We have a low platform at present & manage to clean the roof with extending brush & us standing on our wall next to the motorhome but a bit precarious :( Does anyone know of any high platforms on the market - need to be over 1.2m if possible.

A stand alone scaffold tower like this one?

If you were closer you could have borrowed ours but Scottish Borders to Somerset is a bit too far. You do see them for sale in the local press though and they are available for hire.

Storage is a bit of an issue for a tower & we probably wouldn't bother taking time to assemble it & just stand on the wall as we tend to go for the easy (if a bit dangerous) option! Have seen the platform ladders from BPS at shows & online but only go up to 1.2m platform height so wondered if anything else out there similiar but a bit higher.

Thank you Puddleduck - very kind but definitely too far!

Hi. I saw a folding platform / ladder in costco yesterday it was high up on a shelf so I couldnt have a gander, but it looked ok for cleaning the van It was about £50 or thereabouts(y)

Had a look at Costco website & didn't find that one but did find this which goes up to 2m but not an option for us at £850! Broken Link Removed Might be ideal for any millionaire Funsters out there?!

And I am sure there are a lot more. It's always worth seeing if you can hire or borrow if you can't store them. Please stay safe.

Ouch! Plenty of millionaire Funsters though. Sadly not one of them!:(

Nor me, at least mot in terms of money, but am working on it :D

Would rather be happy than rich and miserable anyway.

Thank you Puddleduck - don't worry the wall isn't too hazardous just looking for a safer long term option as we aren't getting any younger:(

People on walls reaching over to do things give me the heebies. My Dad fell and did some serious damage doing that. He survived but didn't walk away.... :(

Found this too with 1.6m platform but still £600!
Got to be something out there between the BPS platform ladder (good but not high enough) at £100 & the expensive £600+ ones

I'm trying to find one of the ladders we have. It actually rolls up when not in use. It's NOT an escape ladder. It can be put together so many ways.

This is the nearest I can find but is nowhere near as versatile.

You should find what you need here: http://www.laddersandscaffoldtowers.co.uk/acatalog/Clearance-Bargains.html
I have their 7m tower as I wanted to paint the outside of the house as well as cleaning the van roof, it is light and simple to erect, takes little room to store, recommended but, make sure they have what you are about to order in stock!

You are welcome to use mine if you are passing through Argyll!

Thank you - these do go to a good height with a platform - which size do you have?
Mine is 1.5m to the platform. This is high enough for my PVC which is 2.7m to the highest point on the vehicle - the folded sat dish. I can't remember the hight to the roof, but it must be about 2.4m.

I use a pair of tall aluminium stepladders (7 steps plus platform) to clean the roof. I can reach further than half way across from each side. The ladders have to be moved more than a platform but are pretty light so it isn't a problem.

These are similar.

I have always stood on the roof to clean it.....and i weigh 120kg.

Modern motorhomes are strong enough to withstand a persons weight.

A bloody lot stronger than fibreglass step ladders and they have EU approval.

my roof is 10 feet so use telescopic ladders like these:

Have a look in your local Wicks they do nice stable platforms which fold away to a small ladder size and are good value.
