We have just returned to motorhoming, we spent two years touring the US in 1998/99 in a Winnebago which we shipped back, and subsequently sold as it was too big, and expensive to run in the UK. Now we are both fully retired we decided to buy another motorhome, we went to Cologne and bought a Burstner Ixeo 585, and we are planning to head south for Jan/Feb, probably ending up in Cabo de Gata National Park. Does anyone know what the situation is as far as propane bottles in Spain is concerned. I have read blogs that say you need to have your vehicle inspected at considerable cost before you can buy a new bottle in Spain. The advice seems to be to get hold of an empty bottle to get round the certificate problem. Does anyone out there have an empty bottle that I could buy?

Cheers

Cliff

Hi Cliff welcome to fun, you do see Spanish gas bottles for sale, but if you see one on ebay its easier to get one before you come, they are €10 / €15 when we have seen them for sale here, and last year we were paying €13. 20 for a exchange not changed one this time yet.::bigsmile:

We managed to pick up a Cespa bottle at a secondhand shop near Javea and someone said the charity shops sometimes has them but do not rely on it

Hi Cliff, you should not have a problem finding a Spanish gas bottle. We are currently at Camping Villasol, Benidorm, there is a Dutch guy here that usually has 3 or 4 for sale as well as regulators. Current charge is €10 for the bottles and €5 for regulators. The cost of a refill is €17 for a 12.5 kg bottle.

Brisey.
