I'm a newbie
We are an early retired couple looking to do a lot of motorhome traveling. We have not yet bought our motorhome and so any advice about Make , Size , Layout would be very welcome. We also have 2 dogs who will travel with us. Many thanks Phillip and Maryse.

If you have 2 dogs get one with plenty of floor space.

Living the dream.
Welcome, let the fun begin. You have a lot of work in front of you but it's not a chore, finding 'the one' for you is trial and error but you will soon get an idea of what you want. Are you going to spend a long time touring? Perhaps a larger van then, weekends away, a smaller one.
Are you going to use it off grid, big batteries and perhaps solar panels? Room to lounge and room for the pooches. Fixed/double/single beds? Large bathroom or site facilities?
As you can see every one of us has different needs/wants.
Good luck.:xThumb:

Welcome! Go and look at as many different motorhomes as you can. Sit in each of them and work out how the layout will work for you at different times of the day - driving, eating, lounging, sleeping etc.
Once you've done this for the dogs then repeat the exercise for yourselves!!
Have fun!

It's fun, but not easy to get right. Look at them, imagine cooking, living, sleeping. Do you both go to bed at same time, some need lounge space while their partners retire to bed early (us). Fixed bed. Can you park any length on your drive? Any licence restrictions on weight? Do you know anyone who has a van who can help?
Enjoy:)

Hello and welcome! We looked on and off for years and went to dealers ,shows and bought magazines ! We spent hours sitting in them trying out beds and making up the beds ! We hired one for a weeks holiday in Scotland and although we enjoyed the holiday and loved the lifestyle the layout of the motorhome was not for us .since then we found our first motorhome and had many trips . On our third van which has a fixed bed across the back and a huge garage! Perfect for us ( although we are always looking! It's part of the hobby! )Enjoy and good luck! You will get lots of help and advice here if you need it ! Plenty of humour too wish we had joined before we bought ours!!(y)(y)(y)

Hi, reckon you'll get as many different Recommendations as there are 'vans out there! Best to take your time and enjoy the research, possibly hiring a van you like the look of to try it out. As for the dogs, what size are they and how placid? Until recently we had 2 collies in our long wheel base VW with us & apart from not being able to see them so falling over them getting to the loo during the night it was no problem. They were both placid though as you can see from the photo of Tabs, and she still does that collie thing of preferring to settle down several yards out from the van to watch the world go by.
Good luck!
