Hello and welcome from West Midlands. Yes there's plenty to find out about and that's part of the fun. At first you feel a lot of pressure not to appear new to it but we're always willing to help if possible.

Can you have a practice on your drive ? Try not to worry it will definitely get easier just don’t panic when filling up the water tank and it’s pouring out the bottom because you have forgotten to shut the valve! Or you drive off with the electric lead still attached!!;)

( only done once but never again!!)
And yes I went on holiday for 3 weeks and for got pants!!

For about 5 minutes.
Then you will feel like old hands.
Most motorhomers are a friendly lot and like nothing more than discussing motorhomes and places to go. There will be lots of willing advice if you need it, just look for the Fun stickers in the window for 'proper' advice.

Cheers, yes had a practice on the drive it went quite well and everything seemed to work. We are hoping to get away in March for the first time and are looking at booking a serviced pitch at Hawes in Yorkshire, it recommends to bring both 25 meter charging cable and also a 25 meter hose, is the hose really necessary?

Service pitches have their own water tap so you can fill up without moving.
I bought a 10 litre watering can after using another funsters on a meet. It does mean walking back and forth a few times to a tap but it’s good excersise and you get to chat to folks on route!
We haven’t used a serviced pitch before in our Motorhome as we don’t stay more than a few days usually.

Hello and welcome! :)

You'll always need a hose to fill your vehicle. As you've booked onto a serviced pitch I expect the tap is a few metres away from the pitch which is why they've told you you'll need to provide one yourself.

Whenever you go to a site you will need a hose to fill your tank though. Some sites provide a hose but others don't and in that case you'll need your own. It also pays to have a number of hose connectors of differing connection types and sizes as its not a 'one size fits all' scenario.

One thing we've had to accept after over 5 years of motorhoming is that every day is a school day, but it's great.

We don't use a hose. We have a big water carrier on wheels which we fill up and then pump it into the van using a whale pump.

We haven't seen anyone else using our system. A hose may be simple but we have a thing about keeping one clean and attaching them to taps that have been used for other purposes

We usually fill up with a hose but if staying somewhere for longer we also use an Aquaroll & pump into the van to save moving to the tap.
