Well we had the flat up for sale and she said why don't we buy a motorhome... quite a logical conversation for us. Popped into Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury and 20 minutes later an 11 year old Autocruise Starspirit was ours. We looked at several others but the feeling of space and excellent layout made the choice very simple. The Motorhome, "Dora" as she has now been named..., has been very well looked after so credit to the previous owners.
Salop Leisure were excellent, ran through everything and gave us a free night on their CL to get things sorted. This is actually a very nice site with ehu and water at each pitch. Celebrated with a takeaway for our first meal. Woke at 0730, put kettle on for a brew, no gas, swapped bottles, both empty. Drove home (2 miles) for a brew & shower then back to Salop for breakfast. Storing Dora on Salop site as well so all very easy.
The following week we went down to Lucksall (just south of Hereford) for a few nights as a proper test, not exactly slumming it as this is a 5 star affiliated site but everything immaculate. Dora is easy to drive and the 2.2l engine pulls well.
Everything worked well on site and I learned that the yellow air inlet button on the thetford tank should be pressed after inverting to empty and not when upright.... How I love the smell of elsan in the morning !.
Leonie worked in Insurance and I am ex Army (REME) and ex British Antarctic Survey (1978-2007) so any BAS folk on the road please say hello.
Look forward to meeting fellow funsters in the future.
Cheers.
