Hi all, my wife and I are just starting to look at what kind of vehicle & features we want. Primarily for weekend use with our 2 small dogs but maybe would be worth looking broader and having something suitable for Europe (air-con etc).

thanks
Andy!

Welcome.. You have a few dealers not to far away. Start by looking at layouts and jumping in and out as many models as you can. Then check license to see what vehicles you can actually drive as after 1997 the rules changed.
Maybe then decide on a budget.
Also it's £15 on here for a full years membership, with so many actual motorhome owners you can gain a lot of info and avoid many costly mistakes.. (y)

Hi and :welcome4:

Invest £15 in full membership, then download a copy of Jim's excellent publication "Buying a Motorhome". You'll find it in the "Resources" section. It'll be the best £15 you'll ever spend on a motorhome and gives you access to loads of info, both about buying and using one.

Agree with Steve (Tonka) above - layout is probably the most important thing to think about. Whilst you're checking out different types imagine yourselves sitting in the lounge area when it's pouring with rain, making up and sleeping in the bed(s), cooking, using the toilet/shower etc. Where are your dogs going to travel? And once you've confirmed you can legally drive it, where are you going to store it when not in use? Lots and lots to think about. Oh yes, habitation aircon is very nice but comes with some penalties - plenty of discussions on here. I think cab aircon is much more important.

Finally there is an unwritten rule about buying your first motorhome. It takes three changes to get it right (unless you're really clever or lucky, like us)!

Good luck :sun:

thanks
Andy!

It's what MHs are made for. Though we've never had an air-con MH and have survived many years. We would have likes air-con this year, that's for sure. Remember you need to have electric hook up to run the air-con.
