Aha! So you knew it was humour then? That’s probably a good thing.
Well,it was meant to be partly humour,but also a question/thought,bearing in mind the number of sheep in Scotland,and of course Wales,it is a little surprising there is not a Scottish and Welsh equivalent of the Old English. But perhaps there is and I am not familiar with it.
Maybe the Border is Scottish in origin,I don’t know.

The original Old English Sheepdogs were drovers dogs used for herding sheep and cattle, some were used for pulling carts and guarding stock. The breed was first documented in a 1770 painting. They are classed as fearless but ours ( our 3rd ) is the biggest wimp around !

The Welsh have the Border Collie, now acknowledged as the best working dog with sheep.

Scotland has the Scottish Collie and the Scottish Bearded Collie, both used for working stock.

I don't know if Ireland has any equivalent but I'm sure somebody will enlighten me.
