Having caravanned since I was a nipper and now on the verge of retirement we have decided to convert to a motorhome. Haven't got a vehicle yet, but test driving one tomorrow.

My advise would be to buy one that's not to big, you will do much more travelling but you will need to park it regularly.
We have a 22foot long van with a fixed bed and its perfect for the two of us.
