I'm a newbie
Just like to introduce ourselves. We have just purchased a 1999 Autosleeper Symbol. As long term camping enthusiasts over many, many years, we know NOTHING about motor homes. As we recently retired from running a busy guest house in the lakes, we can't wait to get on the road!

We already have an important decision to make. We have a small dog and would like to add a driveway awning to the van. We think we would like the Outwell Daytona. There is a rail fitted above the side door and having done some reading on another site, think it's called a J rail. The height to this rail is approx 210cms. So do we buy the standard height and how fill the drive away part of he awning fix to this rail. It looks like everyone is talking about a C rail or fixing to existing rail on a wind out awning.

Thanks any advice or even better pics would help.

Hi.gif
and a warm welcome from us. Surprised that no-one has come forward to offer advice. Might be better to put your enquiry in the technical help section?

The advice generally available on this forum is first-class and the £15 subscription to become a full member is well worth it. The information that we have received has been extremely useful ... and has saved us both time and money.

A J rail is basically a rain gutter and nothing else, you cannot atatch anything to it, you need a C rail in which the awning edge slides into using a figure of 8 section

Thanks Peter. It's just that this rail us aluminium and on the door side of the van only. Really does look like a later addition.
