I'm Rikki and my better half is Julie.

We bought our 1994 Hymer Camp 55 the year before last and it's been the best thing we've ever done! We've visited many places in England, Scotland and Wales we otherwise never would have, and in June we're taking the plunge and venturing to France.

As we're still relative novices, I'm looking forward to gaining some much needed knowledge - although I hope to pitch in with help when I can. On first impressions this forum looks very promising; friendly, informative - and free!

Hey, thanks everyone; what a welcome!

Geofliz - we're going June 9th-20th, and hope to get down to the Med coast. Our (un)planned route south is Reims, Dijon, Avignon, and back up north along the Atlantic coast.

A few years ago we drove down to Normandy with our son to visit the D-Day landing beaches, and camped next to Pegasus Bridge in Benouville. It must have made an imact as he's joining up this year..!

Sounds great Ricwig69. We know the site at Pegasus Bridge stayed there ourselves last year though only for overnight before setting off south. We did the Normandy beaches a few years ago one of the best holidays we had in France but we stayed at Martragny between Caen and Bayeux. Hope you have a great time this year.:thumb::thumb:

Thanks for that, Geofliz. When we satyed at Benouville we had a bite to eat and a drink in the Gondree Cafe. It was one of the most moving places I have ever been in, and Madame Arlette Gondree-Pritchett was one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met. I believe she's also something of a celebrity in France!
