This question my have cropped up before I Have just visited my motorhome in storage to find that there was water ingress around two of the skylights after having 6 inches of snow on top of the van and then had thawed Normally I can have gailforce winds and rain with no problem at all and dry as a bone have any of you funsters ever had this problem

Snow will get into places that rain cannot. It is quite normal to find snow in a house roof that is tiled, but never a drop of rain enters.

What is this "snow" stuff of which some of you speak?

I think what happens is sometimes the snow melts around the skylight first and the melt water cant run of the roof due to the surrounding snow
If the sun comes out the inside of the van heats up and warms the skylights more than the rest of the roof

I did have exactly this issue last week

put it down to trapped melting water creating extra standing depth

I did have it some years ago which identified a slightly dished roof

I have E&P jacks lifted up one side so all water runs off

you could do the same with ramps

Seems to have worked for me

Hi David G58 Thats interesting thanks for that will put motorhome on ramps and see what happens Motorhome normally parked in spain so not had this problem before It would be interested if any other funsters have had anything like this before

being parked in spain you may find that extreme heat has caused the sealer to dry out and crack, i would reseal when you can,

I had the same a few weeks ago with that previous snowfall.
At first I thought the worst and the skylight was leaking, further investigation up a ladder found that my skylight was surrounded by a wind deflector. As I park under conifors, the small leaves had been falling and blocked a drain hole.
Hence when the snow thawed it pooled around the skylight and seeped in through the foam seals.

I cleared the leaves and drain hole, been doing regular checks and after further snow and lots of rain all good.

Ok thanks for your replys it's got to go up on ramps for the rest of the winter then re seal in the spring
